Congrats third times the charm, I know, It's been 23 years since my last attempt. Like you, I set a benchmark, but it wasn't as as your's Mine was as soon as I felt I had my shi* together (or at least I thought I did ) But I knew I needed help, so I went to a stop-smoking clinic (1 hour a day for 5 days) and what they taught me there helped conquer ALL my cravings for a cigarette.

It took me a few months after that third time to really be over smoking. The key to it is to overcome ALL the associations with it, once you do...you know you are completely done with them. Keep up the good fight and you'll live a longer, healthier and....ok, I won't say happier more fruitful life than if you had not stopped.

I tried a few of times before I was finally successful. One thing that I did realize is that when you are truly ready, you will quit and not go back. Good luck.

Congrats on making it this long. The following in meant as an encouragement--Keep it up, do you really want to go through quitting again?

NO WAY.

After smoking 8 years then quitting only to start back up 9 years later and smoking for 6 more years the second time was scary. As in I started to think and almost accept that I would never be able to quit. That was a depressing thought. The second time was 10 times as hard. A third time would be impossible almost. NO WAY I can do that again.

If I make it to 90 years, then I'll smoke again. hahhahahaha

Had 31 years in when I quit in ‘98. I remember where I was and who I was with the first time I inhaled. I was 10 years old. No bs.

10...?

I was 17 years old and renting a basement apartment in Provo Utah, working as a dishwasher at a Chinese cafe... boredom started me... habit kept me.

Quit at 25 started again at 35 then quit at 40. Been almost 13 years this time, albeit I do enjoy cigars recently.

LOL. Girl got me started at 17. Smoked about 9 years, then off and on for another 5 or so. Noticed after I quit, I stopped getting colds and bronchitis. Started gaining weight right away after quitting too.

45 years since I quit cold turkey!! Still a non smoker. Started when I was 13, quit when I was 21 and was smoking 4 packs a day!! I decided I was tired of my hair smelling like smoke, couldn't taste my food, couldn't chase the girls around the swimming pool without running out of breath, AND 55 cents a pack was just too much to pay for a pack of cigs. lol. Look at them now!
