Parking in the grass/dirt
I've been looking at purchasing a new 2014 Camaro SS V8, and selling my 2004 Ford F150 5.4L Triton.
My one concern is where I will parking the car. I rent from a friend in a nice neighborhood (won't have to worry about theft etc.), but we don't have enough parking space for everyone to park on the driveway... Naturally, him and his wife get the driveway. While my other roommate and myself are parking in the grass, which when it rains turns into a mud slush. My friends civic has already gotten stuck in the mud once and having the truck I was able to pull him out. Is there anything to be concerned about here? Can real damage occur from mud? I might just offer my friend $50 extra a month to have a driveway spot First world problems...i know, but wanted some opinions if anyone has faced a similar situation...as parking in the dirt with my truck is of no concern. |

A load of gravel will fix a lot of your problems, and it shouldn't cost very much. I was quoted 500 bucks last week for one.

Can call these lovely ladies to help...
But seriously if you think you may get stuck in the mud you need to think of other parking options. Is there a place to park at further away and you could just walk the rest of the way when you know it will be raining? |

Put down some plywood or pavers to rest the car on and have something for traction when it rains.

If the grass is trashed from cars and rain and is a mud bowl I would inquire about laying some gravel. fairly cheap i would think it should solve the mud issue?
The Camaro is a tank, and RWD so if you get a hard rain you might be flinging a lot of mud to get unstuck. It would be fun the first few times but will wear on you and the car. Not to mention you prob will get the summer perf tires which are not meant for anything besides blacktop and concrete..... |

i came from an f-150 5.4 to a camaro v6 but kept the truck. i live on a dirt road and have never been stuck in mud. Rock chips are a different story. but i guess it would depend on how deep the mud gets.

Yeah appreciate the feedback guys...
Gravel is a good idea, and maybe I'll offer to go in half with my friend on it...See if he would be open to the idea I wish I could keep the truck, but I need to sell it to make a down payment. I don't make that much $ quite yet...I wish! |

nah it should be fine, but like everyone else said you could always put something down to park on top of.

You might do combo of the suggestions here. laying down some plywood or something like that then cover it with gravel.

This would help with clean up after you moved out. I've used a heavy duty plastic before, then rock on top, and it worked well.

Does anyone have a good website in the USA to buy those pavers?
I just checked them out and that does seem like a good idea honestly...Seems like an inexpensive fix and better than parking on gravel. |

Website? Just walk into a Home Depot and load some into the back of your truck.
