Slightly used Z06 vs Z28 for track work?
I'm in the market for a ZL1 as I don't need/want a track oriented car because well... I don't track :P
but I have been very curious about this question. so I will ask. Looks like a Z28 will be costing around 55-60K and ready to hit the track. you will be taking your car to Nurburing and running 7:30s no problem Then your friend buys a C6 Z06 with very low miles. He takes it to nurburing with you. He runs 7:20s all day. He probably saved a little bit of money too so he can get hookers at night. well... using that example above, why would anyone want a Z28 when it's aimed towards the Z06, yet you can get a slightly used one that will outperform it? Perhaps new vs new, you will definitely see the price difference, and the time diff is negligible at that point, but Z06 isn't even made anymore (unless it's going to be compared against a C7 Z06) Just want to hear thoughts. Again, I don't track cars, and I'm interested in the ZL1 (Sidestepping from a C5 Z06). it was just a question I kept asking myself, so I will ask here for people who have interest in this car. Perhaps you can run many laps with the Z28, where the Z06 will get tired after with it's brakes. |

First off I would say only 1% of people on this forum could run under 8min. At the ring with either car!!!

I would say it would come down to looks and how you feel about each car and the option of having a brand new car as opposed to a car that has been used.
Between the two, I would personally go Z28. |

I would get the Z06. It's a totally different monster. I wish I still had mine.

If you are not going to track your car, then I would buy the ZL1.

The z28 is going to cost way more than 55-60k. Where did you see that?
Just like anything else the z28 is going to be a platform. Put a blower in it and its gonna beat a z06. Also, z06 doesn't carry the wow factor the new z will have when it's released. The z/28 isn't aimed towards the z06 either. It's the flagship 2014 release for gm. They aren't worried about the folks that are thinking "why would I get this over that" |

I track my Z06,so the answer from me is Z06 all the way....for one simple reason. If I wad up the Z06 getting another just like it can be done in a matter of hours. There are tons of them for sale.
The Z28 will be a much more precious commodity. |
