The L99 also has VVT. Same block, crank, rods, head castings, and intake manifold. Different pistons, camshaft, lifters, timing gear, oil pump, valves, valve springs. and valley cover. Probably more stuff different than the same. Hardy the same motor.

And just in case OP didn't know if his car was manual or auto, post 3 finished answering his question.

Thread was finished in 3 posts. I agree it will run out to 3 pages.

Yes but if OP doesn't know what engine is in his car he may not know what M6 means.

I didn't realize how different those two motors are. That was actually educational.

I say 2.5 pages

Yeah my dad says he got over 400,000 miles out of his. I cannot tell you how many of my relatives that Suburban was passed on to! I just asked him about it through and he said not everyone had good luck with the engine. I do remember it had absolutely no power, ha.

Hey can you take out the A6 from a Camaro with a L99 and put a manual in without issues?

I too didn't realize how different the LS3 and L99 were/are. So to take this posting one further, is their any data stating which engine is better from a repair and reliability standpoint? GM probably is collecting such data.....
