2022 1SS 1LE

Morning!

I have had 3 fifth gens, a 2010, a 2015 1SS 1LE and currently a 2012 THR 45th Convertible.

My dad informed me that the chevy dealer where he is a service manager has a 175 mile 2022 1SS 1LE coming in in wild cherry. I love the LOOK of the 6th gen SS's and miss my 1LE terribly. Also, my kiddos hate riding in the back of the convertible (they are 9 and 1) and i drove it a whopping 300 miles last year. I'm in Pittsburgh.

That said - two questions. Anyone with a kid in a car seat on a 6th gen and can confirm the rear seat is garbage for kids/anyone? Second, anyone made the switch from 5th to 6th with kids?

I have a rare bird in my car but I dont drive it. I have a buyer for it (my old man) so i'm not worried about it getting too far away.

My son used a booster seat back when he was 8-9ish. He had to keep his legs crossed in front of him (not hanging)... the position was either front seat moved very far forward so he could put his legs straight, or keep them crossed if someone was in the front seat.

I dont have any exp in THIS car with infant car seats, but I wouldnt think a rear facing car seat would work very well. Prob would interfere with the front seat unless the front seat was very far forward. I love my car but... unfortunately the rear seats are pretty much a luggage holder. Not fit for any humans.

Yeah - that's what i'm thinking. My 9 year old will be 5' tall soon. she's real tall. The baby will be rear facing for another year. I think it's useless.

Ugh. Keep 5th gen vert and not drive it or get 6th gen 1LE or not drive it or

GASP get mustang GT PP and drive it (i test drove one with the baby seat and it fit fine...)

Don't mention Challenger. I had one. It was fun but a boat.

Out of curiosity, how much as they asking for it? Not that I need it but I am trading in my 2022 1SS 1LE this weekend which has 220 miles on it (but will have closer to 400 since the dealer is 150 miles away). I am picking up a ZL1.

49k on the site - hasnt been certified yet - sticker was 47. I'm guessing once it's all done, the listing will be right at sticker.

they havent given me a number yet.

Congrats on the ZL1.

I did, once. I let my buddy drive it, his daughter sat up front too. It's tight for an adult. If your tall then you'll have the driver's seat back for your own leg comfort, thus reducing rear leg room. We have 3 boys and they are all currently 17+ years old. But prior to this Gen6 I had a '14 1LE and they rode in the back of that. The youngest would have been 9 years old. None of them complained about the rear seating. The only thing about a Gen6 is there is less rear leg room compared to the Gen5. But for very young kids, the the seat bottoms are long enough that they don't bend their knees at the edge of the seat. So they tend to have their feet up against the front seat backs.

Just get used Chevy SS or a Dodge Charger so you can actually use the car. Dont torture your children with confined spaces.

U will fall in love , with the 6th Gen your 9 yr old will be more comfortable behind the passenger side, and as he gets older just move the passenger seat forward there still room for a 5'9" person when the seat is up . My wife rides and drives with the seat up almost all the way she is 5'9". Your 1 yr old will be fine for years to come. Hope you make the dicision to buy. .

Need a stick.

Looking at challenger again and mustang. Seems 6th gen SS would be torture indeed!

Some will just keep saying the rear seats are unusable, then there are others who can't get off the bad visibility diatribe, yet others will harp on the small trunk opening and the "can't fit a full golf bag with my drivers, end of discussion" train... my advice is just go and test drive one. Nobody can make this call for you, and basing your decision on complete strangers' random forum posts would be silly.

BTW, none of this is an issue for me or my kids, but obviously this car is a low hung coupe, if you want comfortable rear seat ingress and egress, you need a sedan, if you want fish tank level visibility, you need a bubble/teardrop shaped car or an SUV instead etc.

The real question is what you actually want and how much of a tradeoff you are willing to take to get it. The 6th gen Camaro is an awesome sports car with an excellent V8 engine built on an amazingly capable platform that far exceeds the 5th gen, a car that will give you ear to ear grin all the time if you're into that sort of thing, and from what you owned so far and wrote, you do seem to be. Those that just want a comfy car that has some pep for the occasional red light or on-ramp drama certainly have more suitable options.

my Daughter is 13 but she is a very tiny 13 and even she cant really even fit in the back comfortably. I am not crazy tall only 5'10" so my seat isnt crazy far back either.
But then they only rode in the back picking up from school for like a week before I got my other car for daily. So backseat being useless doesnt really matter to me

when they wewre tiny ones I had a 2010 GT and was able to put car seats in the back of that and i would say the backseat in that is pretty close to what the camaro is. I would think a car seat wouldnt be an issue. its if you need leg room behind the seat for a person who would seat in the seats normally.
what part of pittsburgh are you in?

This is the opinion I wanted/needed. I dont and won't daily it.

I'm looking for a more refined toy.
