Watch the video for yourself - clearly not what he said. Typical marketing sensationalizing what an engineer said.

MEDISEN put up the video. Time mark 2:35

Not defending anything. Just tired of the endless BS getting recycled over and over... wasting my time and feeding the trolls. Shame on me

Thank you! You're aright.

I remembered him saying 12s too but didn't look at the correct time mark. Sadly, they'll be posting the same crap next week

And at the end of the video, he talks about drag radials and 11 sec. slips. than goes on to make this comment.

To tell the truth, I can care less what the Hell cat OR ZL1 runs in the 1/4 mile.
If it's not fast enough, MOD IT.

No he does not. You've heard a lie repeated long enough that its impossible to hear the truth even when given the video. Quoting the end.

"We're excited and we're proud of the fact that this car with basically no modification, will come out here and do this, and run it all day long, and we're going to drive them home. Couldn't be happier."

Drag radials are mentioned at time mark 0:55 but only in terms of drive line integration and that the rear axle was test with DR to ensure it would not fail. Warranty for track and strip (non competitive). The 12s reference is there too

Watch the video

The video really doesn't matter when people have run faster with street tires.
I think we all know it shouldn't beat a hellcat but not being but a possible few tenths off is still impressive to me considering the hp difference.

A stock ZL1 won't beat a Hellcat. So what. Its an old design in its fourth and last year of production. Mod it.

The video only matters to shut up the claims that Chevy lied. Chevrolet stands by the 11.93 times on factory tires. Period

Unfortunate thing is the AVERAGE runs suck so the so called hero 11 second runs get frowned upon somehow.

This^. It's great you can buy an off the showroom car for $60k that can run 11's all day. But performance is relative. 11's still won't be fast enough for some. The most badass cars I have ever seen were custom - built for a purpose. There are cheaper ways to get 11's for sure, but options are good.

Still can't figure out why Dodge locks their ECU down. Makes no sense. Deny the warranty if you don't want people modifying it but why stop people who want more from the car and are willing to forgo the warranty to get it?

Given your times, I don't expect the stock tune will hold you back much. If anyone can beat or match the 11.2, it will be you. Or are you thinking R/T ScatPack?

I just got a reply from a Nationally-known auto-scribe pal, who is currently driving a 6-Speed Hellcat.

"What times has it run?"

"Can't divulge them..."

No Hellcat for me. At least that's what is on my mind right now. Im leaning more to a 2016 R/T base Scat Pack with an auto. The Hellcat is still on the table for me but honestly, I don't need one. Ive been there and done that with big HP cars. The 392 with 8 speed auto will be plenty and I am hoping to get one into the 11's stock. It should happen since Ive had a 2011 392 auto run a 12.2 but that damn sure wasn't easy!!!!

Hell, Ive been on an auto C6 Vette kick lately too......I was on autotrader today looking at some. LOL. No joke, I just love the look of the C6.

Also, with the auto Hellcat, Im pretty sure we will see some good low 11 second runs and possibly 10's bone stock once its out, but its still going to take a good driver to do it. Throwing a 707 HP 650 TQ car into the hands of the average Joe just wont cut it....Even if its an auto. It just doesn't matter with that much power.

In the Interwebbythingy Hotrod community, there is a saying.

"Where's the slip?"

Not just to weed out charlatans, but to see how it was set up.

Modern timing equipment often has the temp or DA, but even without it, it tells the track, the date, time, and 60' times.

Why is that useful? If the track is closed at 10:06 AM on Tuesday, April 1st, and they say they ran street tires, yet the sixty is a 1.8x, you know they sprayed the crap out of the track with VHT.

And you know they rented the track, so they were big shots with a pit crew and pro driver, perhaps 140lb soaking wet, and did not have to obey all the safety restrictions, like doing multiple burnouts through the lights before staging.

In other words, in the real world at the dragstrip, your result will certainly vary.
