Vroom Purchase

As some of you aware i'm searching hard for an V61le.

I found this one on vroom and looked at it for about a week...on Tuesday I jumped on it. Vroom is awesome for multiple reasons as I sold my STI on there and from a buyer perspective. After sleeping on it I realized I overpaid and will be cancelling the purchase. After all fees and a small warranty package it came out to $40,113 @ 1.07% rate. I have to calm down and stay focused...lol

Besides the rear seat leather imperfections caused by a baby seat, the car is perfect.

Wow! $34k goes to $41k. I get tax and interest but what are VROOM's nonsense fees? Dealership owners don't live in a big house for nothing.

Fees were not bad like
dealer fee $200
Online fee $60
registration $80
8% taxes
999 shipping
1600 warranty
700 gap

Ok. Dealer fee of $200 is not crazy. Dealers in SW FL are between $499-$1000. If you qualify for GM employee pricing the fee is capped at $75 by GM. I have GAP on all my cars. Shop around. I paid $430 through the credit union and when I traded in the Blazer for the Tahoe they just swapped the GAP. Also, if you have GAP and you trade a car in, it is refundable on a pro rated basis.

You call $1600 a small warranty package. How much time and miles do you get and what is covered ?

No, I did not purchase it. It was very easy to cancel the purchase and they did not argue at all. Refunded me back all my deposit/down payments.

The "small" warranty pkg was 60month 50k mile. lol

As much as I want this car, I know the market is VERY high right now and 40k all in for a used V6 1LE is just overpriced. I have to stay smart and focused.

Yes! Finally someone that shares the same sentiment. 40k is outrageous for a used v6 1le. Glad you didn't do it.

Watch the Camaro prices fall like a rock in October through December especially in cold temp states. Keep possible ones on dealer lots in your bookmarks now, and if they are still there in late September, you know what to do.

Not that it should have convinced you to buy that specific car, but 1.07% on any used car is a damn good rate. Too bad the price was out of line, hopefully you can get that same rate when you find the right car.

To be fair to Vroom, the price of the car is $34,000. The $40,000 figure includes approximately $3,300 of optional add-ons selected by the OP (not to mention taxes and fees).

I'm hoping to see prices fall this Fall. Between delivery of the built cars combined with summer ending, i'm hoping to find the spec I want and pick it up for a reasonable price.

Vroom already lowered the price of the car since I cancelled the purchase a few days ago.

1.07% is insane rate and I highly recommend vroom. The reps are very nice and it was scary easy to sell, purchase and cancel an order. Beats going to the dealer.

Well when they are charging 10k more than what the car is worth out the door you can afford to give a good interest rate.

You're not entirely wrong, but it's interesting because I know that Vroom isn't doing their own financing - they have a large lender that does it for them. Even if Vroom is taking no percentage for themselves, the lender has a base rate they won't go below. It's likely in this case that Vroom is actually doing a negative rate by giving up some of the up front money from the purchase price they would normally be paid from the lender - which, as you say, is offset by the higher price. But in a seller's market, they could very easily settle for 'only' 0% which would put the overall rate at more like 3 or 4%. And as a newer venture, there's always the chance that they are making NO money on certain deals just to get the brand recognition/reputation out there.

Makes me wonder how much they actually paid to buy that vehicle from its previous owner. Either way, if you agree to their purchase price and they give you 1.07%, it's impressive.

Right, it took me a few hours to realize the car was overpriced because I was initially shocked by the 1.07%. I saw that and was like "ok". lol Then I realized I was going to over pay for a warranty package (that may or may not work) and shipping ($999).

Like I said, Vroom is awesome and I'm not opposed to them. Just this particular deal was about 10k over. lol
