Yes, comparing which sits higher/lower or which exhaust looks better is unfair based on the difference in trim levels.
However, you can still compare the tail-lights and bumper sculpting, which was the purpose of my post. |

I understand why '19 owners are quick to say negative comments are "biased", but that argument doesn't hold up. I have a '17 and would absolutely say it if I thought the '19 looked better. Just like I look longingly at the ZL1 front end - it's clearly a nicer looking nose. I'm not going to talk myself into saying mine is better just because I own it.
If you don't want to hear people's opinions, don't go on a forum. And if people feel strongly about something, they are free to use the words "hate" and "hideous". I tend to agree with a lot of those strongly worded comments - this refresh is a disaster. And yes, I mean that.

Yeah I remember the outrage when it first came out.

I never liked the 5th Gen. Exterior was OK, but hated the interior. Love my 17, though. |

Yeah i remember it also and it hasn't gone away .
PT Cruiser,Chevy citation, Dodge Aspen and lets not forget the Greats the Chevy Corvair and Ford Mustang 2 , all past winners of the great Motor Trend Car of the year award . I would rather a Camaro not be in that list . |

The 5th Gen did bring in a lot of first time Camaro owners with the retro look and sold great but i think in 25 years when people look back it won't be received as well, outside of the 1Le ,ZL1 and Z28 anyway. I have owned a 69 first Gen and 70 ,72 and 81 second Gens and wouldn't trade my 18 1Le for any of them.

Looking at these rear ends, however, I feel that 00 Trans Ram's analysis is spot on. Granted, I don't share the views of the "all of this is relative" camp, but even someone of a more accommodating view can't simply dismiss these esthetic blunders---the taillight shapes seem to be an attempt at recreating former Camaro designs, but the bulges are amateurish and do not harmonize with the rest of the 6th gen lines; dropping the crease just under the taillights render the rear much blander; and the extra lower bumper trim (cut?) line seals the deal, giving the bumper a stacked two-piece look that is way out of sync with the rest of the body lines. BTW yes, I did see the refreshed SS in person, I have no problem acknowledging improvements compared to what I chose (say, things like an electronic rear view camera mirror) and harbor no regret or remorse about my purchase, given the chance I'd buy the '18 again.
