What is the difference in sound between the Solo Mach X and XL. I know the physical differences with the J pipes and I know what the J pipes do. But what would be the sound differences between the 2 on a LS3 6 speed?

I went the axle back route, thus I have J pipes on my M6. Could not be happier with literally zero drone. If you are sensitive to drone, I would go the XL route with j pipes. I'm not sure if the j's reduce the volume at all, I doubt it. Both are essentially straight pipe. The resonated X will make the most difference in tone and rasp. If you go with any other volume increasing mods in the future (LT's, cam or whatnot) I would definitely go with XL. Got mine from Juiced Motorsports

I would talk with Solo. When I got mine they recommended getting the Mach XL for the LS3 if you were going with other modifications, such as headers, etc. I got mine directly from Solo.

Although I have headers in this video... I loved my stainless works even before the headers.

They make a great product and have great customer service.

I spent months listening to clips also, came down to solo and Stainless works. called and spoke with different venders and kept getting the recommendation for Stainless works retro chambered 3' cat back, that and the clip from apex sold me on the Retro Chambered. it is an interesting design if you ever look in to it and it is light also. the low rumble is just the way a V8 camaro should sound like from factory. best money I ever spent on a camaro!!

The Stainless Works is definitely the deepest tone of the three.

StainlessWorks gets my vote of the 3, however as mentioned above, do HEADERS first. Not only might you get the exhaust tone you are looking for (lots of LT Headers and stock CB's out there), but you will make an asston more power stand-alone and even more when paired with your blower. If you are Supercharging it, LT Header's is ALMOST a must.

I totally love my Borla S-Type axle back. However I'm also running LT's. Kooks stepped headers and cat-less mid pipes.

It's nice and soft at idle.

Damn. I don't think there is a right answer to which is best for these 3 options. They are probably all great sounding.

This is the tough part about trying to choose an exhaust. Listening on YouTube just isn't the same. So many different recording qualities. And LOTS of poor quality ones that probably do more of an injustice to the exhaust than help it.

I have not. Haven't heard of them either. Can you point me to a couple of vids of that exhaust?

Yup. You can call them (or email them) and talk to a knowledgeable exhaust expert. I can't speak to your three choices as far as a cat-back system goes, but I have Solo w/ J-pipes axle-backs an they are fantastic. ZERO drone. You can jump on it pretty good and not be excessively loud or have ANY "slop or slap", but they are deep and throaty sounding. Idle is beautiful too. I love 'em.
