Another thing to think about is when the 2010 gen 5's came out there was a lot of pent up demand from the 8 years when no Camaro's were built. This time with no production lapse the initial sales might not be quite as strong as one would think.

we are in year 5 of the Camaro, and has outsold mustang in every year. I think we are past the initial sales...

Production of the Gen6 is slated to begin October of 2015, in Lansing,MI. Was released in an intercompany memo to GM employees recently.

I am hoping they reveal the new model at the Detroit International Autoshow.

I'm really not worried about the Camaro outselling the Mustang. I want it to sell enough to continue being profitable enough for GM to keep making them for years to come. Granted that may be one in the same.

The reason that Camaro production ended in 2002 was that the new safety regulations required major reconstruction for side impact. The Union contract in place said that the workers would get full pay while they were off during retooling. To break the Union contract, the Nameplate of the car would have cto be retired for 7 years. 2003-2009=7 years. Contract on the Camaro voided. New contract negotiated and change of location bidded on and chosen.
I couldn't be happier with either my 4th gen SS or my 5th gen Zl1. Canada has shown good quality builds, I hope and am sure that Lansing, MI will make an awesome 6th gen. I will have one to add to my collection.
