From Camarofest: no spoiler delete on SS

There will be NO spoiler delete on the SS. The spoiler is integral to the air flow and deleting it will negatively affect handling.

GM has been pretty on point with their aero recently. If they put it on the car, I trust them.

So going after market could have adverse affects and safety issues? That's how I take that statement.

Nah, you'll just be more taped to the ground than glued.

Nooooo!

What it means is your car simply wouldn't as well as if it had a well integrated and aero tuned spoiler. And I would guess it would be fractions in real world street driving.

Safety issues? Not even.

The V6 RS just became a bit more appealing to me. I was hoping I could get the smaller lip spoiler on an SS. Maybe that will still be an option? We just know for sure that we can't get it with no spoiler.

The WRX guys that don't want a spoiler will just post their deck lids on the classified to swap for a base Impreza deck lid that didn't come with a wing. I'm sure there will be more than enough people willing to trade their base deck lid for one with a wing on it from an SS.

Did you ask about the rendering of that dove tail/wickerbill style one shown in the optional body kit? Is that going to be a real option in place of the regular spoiler?

They will offer a dovetail spoiler. So far it's only been seen on non-SS models with the GFX kit in renderings. But for what it's worth, if you asked a dealer very nicely you can probably get the SS spoiler swapped.

That is thoroughly disappointing !
I absolutely hate that spoiler , and would have to find a way to not have that on my car if I buy a sixth gen.

Fine with me. Doesn't look good without a spoiler IMO.

actual functional aero doesn't really work until you're going at speeds that are usually way over normal operating speeds anyway. so as far as a spoiler affecting handling, that's really only going to be an issue for people who actively track their car. for the other 85% of us, its all for looks.
