Question 6th Gen Aux Gauges?

So are there any 6th Gen auxiliary gauges packages similar to those offered on the 5th Gen, or are they all integrated in the 7"/8" dash and center console screens now? I imagine wideband air/fuel ratio is not offered, so I wonder if you can add applications to display these things in the Camaro?! Is there an API? This needs to be customizable AND extendable!

Alternately I would also be cool with an OBD-outputed iPhone display (cannot wait for the iOS version of HP Tuners!), either via CarPlay or just a vehicle iPhone mount ala ProClip... CarPlay could be the way to make all this happen in the near-term.

The aux gauges will be in the 8" cluster for the SS models which thankfully is standard. Not sure what the LT cars without the 8" will be able to do. Definitely not going to get a wideband o2. With the vents and limited space on the center console doubt anyone will have a gauge pod to fit there. The pillar will likely see someone make one.

As far OBD adapters and smartphones, sure if you aren't trying to measure something that changes very quickly, b/c the sample rates are always low BT OBD adapters.

Thanks, but there are WiFi OBD adapters too. CarPlay is direct cable connect (at least until the wireless version is supported), so there may be a whole new world of possibilities there too! Time will tell all!

There's no car monitoring apps CarPlay compatible yet. So maybe forever with all the legal bs Apple puts devs through. Never seen a wifi obd adaptor. Got a link for one?

OBDii BT? There are several in case you want to search. I have no interest in them so I can not provide a link.

They use a dongle which plugs into the OBDii port. Their one saving grace is their use inhibits OnStar.

No the wifi ones. I've got a BT one and it's slow as crap.

I suspect we will see much more via CarPlay in the future, especially since most car manufacturers have not clue how to do good hardware/software integration!

Here are links to some WiFi OBD adapters supported by TrackAddict:
http://racerender.com/TrackAddict/docs/Interop.html#OBD

For example, this unit works as a hotspot AND infrastructure (connect to existing WiFi base station):

Free OBDLink app included:

So now these OBD iOS apps just need to get their rears in gear and add CarPlay compatibility! Time to start bugging these companies to do that! The OBD Wi-Fi adapter will provide a workaround until CarPlay can talk to OBD natively. We are very close to some cool solutions!

I wouldn't expect it to work natively, don't see PCM data being transmitted to the infotainment system but there could be some. But the wifi dongle should definitely do the trick.

Talking

Natively via an OBD WiFi adapter then display on the 8" display via CarPlay -- problem solved.

This one can even hookup other external sensors like wideband O2 AFR...

External sensor adaptor (connects to the bottom of the Kiwi 2 WiFi) to add additional non-OBD supported ones like A/F:
