R7 and waze running. The distance on the R7 is insane and the arrows are great if you want to know once you've passed the cop and can continue spirited driving.

Really? So a cop can put a bogus location mark down on Waze and then drive a couple miles down the highway from there and pick you off?

I get that the vast majority of police radars are non-laser and thus detectable from a distance. Driving out in the country I doubt you’d ever find a stationary cop hiding out with a laser gun (LIDAR). The interstate is another story. While the cop has to be parked to use LIDAR as opposed to traditional radar that allows them to be in motion, there is no shortage of places to do so. No radar / laser detector can give you advanced warning of a laser hit. How much should be spent on a device that gives you a laser warning when the cop has already recorded your speed?

Touche! I haven't felt the need to have one but I've found myself loving to rev this 6 speed MT and it seems to get well beyond the limit quicky.

I agree also that waze is great but since I don't drive staring at the infotainment screen I feel the need to have notification well in advance.

So the Escort iX is out since it's an older model and since the newer model puts me in the range of the some of the higher priced models I'm seriously considering the r7. The Max 360 would be a contender but it just seems bulky imo. Still investigating it and will check the seamless/wireless integration mentioned previously.

Radenso is a strong contender but doesn't appear to be as refined as the uniden or escort although i do love the smaller size of that unit.

Im pulling the trigger on something tomorrow. I feel a little paralysis of anaysis setting in the more I read...

Btw... Another concern is removing the unit to put my sun shade in. Living in Fl it's a necessary evil I do this whenever I park. Are the mirror mounts an issue with this? I'm pretty sure the suction cups are so thought I'd ask.

I have the Max 360 and it has been superb. Zero false alarms. When it goes off, it’s time to pay attention!

Did you solve the issue with the blind spot monitoring setting it off every time you pass something (or get passed?)

I just wired mine up and it's practically worthless since it alerts to a K band every time the BSM goes off.

This issue comes to mind. Similar incidents have happened. It’s an issue that will always have the possibility of happening, due to the fact that it’s a crowdsourced app.

That's also why it doesn't work. Cops put a pin down, nobody sees a cop there, hits thumbs down and the mark goes away.

I don't have the proximity system. After researching different settings I have K and X band turned off and run in HWY mode. Speed limit warning all off lol. Be sure to update the firmware, there are K band fixes in the latest ones. There are a bunch of good radar forum posts out there on different settings.

Check this one out for a start

Hope that helps

Thanks for the info!

I actually spent an hour yesterday trying to see if I could update mine since I've had it since mid 2017. Escort has never notified me of any updates, and I couldn't find any on their website. My assumption is that they want to charge you for these updates since they are not readily available. For the money I paid for the detector, I really don't feel like I should pay more.

R3, mirror mount, mirror wire tap. Yet to fail me even a 5k+ mile round trip. You can't go wrong with it.

You have to use the Detector Tools on a PC.
Here is a forum link that talks about how. A little sarcastic but they all can't be as cool as Camaro6 users:
http://www.escortradarforum.com/foru...ad.php?t=14557

Here is where you can download the tools, just be sure to choose the right one for your model:

Thanks for the info! I did eventually find the update on their website, but they definitely don't make it easy to find.

Hopefully, it solved some of the issues I was having. I just haven't had a chance to test it yet. If not, I guess I'll just have to relegate the 360 to my truck and find something else for the car.

I turned off X and K on my V1, because none of the cops around me use it and all these new proximity sensors that newer cars have set it off all the time.
