Car shifting on it's own?
Hi all, didn't know if this was the right section but earlier I was at a red light and I needed to accelerate fast enough to get into the next lane. I hit about 70 when the upcoming light was red so I had to slow down breaking kinda hard, in the process my car shifted into neutral on its own. So I had to pull off to the side to shift it back in to drive and keep going. And before this a few months ago I accelerated fast to get into another lane (cutting someone else off) and in the process of hitting a sharp turn the front tires started to swerve left and right until I had to break and stop to gain control and in the process the car shifted into neutral. Any idea why this keeps happening? Once I had a message pop up saying service stability control but went away once I turned off and restarted the car and hasn't showed up since. Any help beside being more careful would be grateful lol. Thanks in advance

Sounds like you need to learn how to drive more responsibly before you kill someone.

Sounds like your car is telling you "you're an idiot.".
...I'm siding with the car. Don't like it? Then Sell the car, get a Honda, LEARN TO DRIVE, then work you're way back up to responsibility and then get a manual transmission. Stop giving the rest of us a bad rep.

Well, it is possible that your driving has something to do with the problem you described. No doubt you hit high rpms doing this... it could be you rev limiter. Are you sure it shifted into neutral, or did the engine just cut off?

Maybe your mommy instincts are kicking in and youre doing the "put arm across passengers stomach to prevent from flying out the window" type deal and not realizing your putting your car into neutral.

Your car is obviously equipped with ODP (Other Driver Protection) and the erratic driving is causing that system to engage and remove power from the car off until you stop.

No I didn't shift it myself my hand was no where near the shifter. And 95 percent of the time I do respect the rules of the road it's just that 5 percent when I'm in hurry lol

Sounds like you are getting thrown around and bumping it into neutral. There is nothing electronic that will move the gear shifter out of drive.
You don't need to pull over to put it back in drive. Also, quit driving like an idiot around other drivers.
