Car and Driver tests the top performance tires at the Tire Rack test track

As some of you may know the Tire Rack tests most of the tires we sell at our on site test track in South Bend IN.

Car and Driver has done some past test at the Tire Rack. They recently came out to test the newest and best performance tires on the market.

I highly recommend picking up the August issue as it has some great detailed information discussing these tires. Let me know if you have any questions.

9. Pirelli P Zero
8. Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Spec
7. Toyo Proxes R1R
6. Goodyear Eagle Asym 2
5. Continental Extreme Contact DW
4. Hankook Ventus RS-3
3. Yokohama Advan Neova AD08
2. Bridgestone S04 Pole Position
1. Michelin Pilot Super Sport.

While I realize not all of these tires are available for the Camaro its still great info and with the popularity of this car I am sure more tires will be on the way in the future.

Feel free to discuss....

For a street driven Camaro I really like the new BFG G Force Comp 2. Its has good grip for the street with better wear and a more affordable price vs the OE Pirelli.

True, but keep in mind these are 9 of the best performing tires on the market so the Pirelli is not a slouch.

Those are all some pretty good tires on that list.
And the Michelins are great tires, but they cost an arm and a leg.

Too bad Tirerack doesn't carry the Nitto brand so their different models could have also been tested.

Totally agree, the Nitto motivo are really getting good reviews for a DD tire at a great price

Actually, every time I've ever seen a comparison that includes Nittos, they are either at, or very near, the bottom of the pile. People on here rave about them, but I've never actually seen them do well in a comparison...?

I'm actually shopping for tires now and settled on the BFG Gforce COMP-2s only to find the 245/45/20s are sold out nationwide :(

Comp 2's have horrible grip, I have a set and they are not even close to a stock Pirelli or a Nitto Invo....Comp 2's are the most overhyped tire on the market....buying them was a $850 mistake....

These are new tires / designs? Did they benchmark them against existing performance tires? i.e. The Super Sport is better than a PS2? The S04 is better than the RE-11?
