Haters gonna hate?
|
My car had been repainted...sort of...
Dont worry I will keep this short.
A few months it hailed and caused $5,700 worth of damage and now its fixed But now there is a new problem, the front bumper is off color with the fenders. My body man said it still needs to cure and what not. I hope it doesnt stay like this... Discuss.

I can see a slight difference, but I donīt know anything about paint, so if it has to settle/cure or whatever I have no idea of. It looks like itīs more matte than the rest? Almost like it has some kind of coating

I don't think that the color is going to change at all as the paint cures. Once its dry that is the color that it is going to be.

Looks to me like your body guy didn't blend up the fenders/hood. That slight difference in color will remain that way, it will not change significantly as it "cures". Only change you might get is if you let the front bumper bake in the sun, while the rest of the car is covered

Paint (at least for a car) does not change color as it cures. Maybe to an spectro-photometer but absolutely not to the eye. If you're not happy with the color now then you won't be happy tomorrow.
If they're capable of reading your paint to get an idea of what color it is they are capable of showing it to you. Ask them to read another part of your car and then compare it to the front bumper reading. It's a handheld device they use to do this so it's not something out of the question. Just for your knowledge - when they spit out numbers - anything less than a Delta E of 0.50 isn't visible to the eye and between 0.50 - 1.00 only to a specific eye. Just me two cents as a paint formulator...hence my username |

What everyone else said...I'd go back to your guy and get it blended correctly this time.

they wouldn't have painted the bumper for hail damage since I don't think you would have had damage to the bumper?

I am a painter & I just painted my IOM car. The paint will not not change color as it drys that is BS. There is two different variations to our paint code. There is a standard & one with with a blue tone to it. At least there was with DM paint. My car was a match with the standard code.
