That's about what I had initially expected. But after reading all the Mustang trolls on this forum, I expected more. I'm sure they will all now call this fake news, Car and Chevy Magazine or something else stupid. They are not going to want to admit that the $50k Mustang that was tested isn't faster than this. So sad... Especially considering that there is a lot to be excited about with the new Mustang, like finally having dual mode exhaust and Magneride available. I have those in my SS, and they are awesome! Plus the A10 should be a huge upgrade over their last auto trans. But then again, those things cost money and add weight, so I'm not surprised it's heavier and more expensive. Either way, it's a nice car.

Hopefully the A10 Mustany can close the gap a bit more with the A8 Camaro.

Who cares? I mean everyone on M6G doesnt care that the 11.8 run was done in near perfect conditions and track prep...It did it once so that means every mustang is a 11.8 car any time of the year on any surface.

No, it was done in September/October, when the weather was still warmer. The Mustang meanwhile was done more recently, with better, cooler air.

That was a PP package car too right?*
*Edit* Holy crap a PP1 car that is pushing 50K??? I wonder how much a fully loaded PP2 car will be. A stones throw away from the ZL1 and a C7 I expect. This pricing is ridiculous....

Jesus Christ..... Why pay this much when a comparably equipped 2SS 1LE is 5k+ less? Excluding incentives aswell...

Exactly. Instead of being happy that it is now much faster, has more options, and is almost on par with the SS, they're all pissy because it isn't faster. Like they really thought 25 extra hp and 4 extra gears would translate into a 1 second drop in the quarter mile. They're outta their minds.

They weren't. So it can be argued. However the SS has consistently tested 12.3-12.5 in these tests. And even the Mustang guys have consistently called it a low 12 as tested bt C&D or MT. So it stands that the GT is in fact slower. And it was stated by the mags that the GT is still slower than the SS. But what we need is an actual H2H to put it to rest once and for all.

Hilarious.

Mustang owners when beat by 6th gen SS: "Yeah, but the SS costs more and just wait until 2018"

Mustang owners in 2017 when the higher priced 2018 GT is still beat by the SS: "..."

C&D corrects for weather. The SS M6 tested identically at the beginning and end of the test 13 months later.

Quote:
To eliminate the effects of weather on performance, we employ proprietary empirical correction factors to adjust all results to dry air at 14.7 psi and 60 degrees Fahrenheit using PsyCalc 98 software (www.linric.com) to crunch the weather data.

And, with only one exception, it (2016 SS M6 2SS) matched or bettered every major performance milestone it achieved in its initial test when we reevaluated it to wrap this story. At 40,597 miles, its zero-to-60 time (4.0 seconds) and quarter-mile time (12.3 seconds at 118 mph) remained identical to what we measured at 3949 miles, 13 months earlier. Plus, its roadholding improved from 0.98 g in its first test to 1.01 g’s at the end—using the same front tires it had in the earlier trial. Braking from 70 mph was identical at 149 feet. It also averaged 20 mpg during the course of its stay

That tester GT weighs 160 lbs more than the loaded 2SS C&D tested in 2016. It also weighs only 5 lbs less than a 2018 ZL1 M6! ...and it has no trans or diff cooler!

3,883 lbs - 2018 ZL1 M6
3,878 lbs - 2018 GT PP M6
3,718 lbs - 2016 SS M6 2SS

I've read on M6G that the 18 GT is going to "hurt a lot of feelings".
