The problem aluminum is its a body man's nightmare for repair unless just completely replacing the whole panel meaning more expense. My sources confirm to same 2 base engines but the v8 will be upgraded for a little more HP, but the V6 will have a twin turbo option putting out about 400hp. Even without the TT v6 option performance increase will be substantial because of the 200+ weight loss. I estimate all cars to be running stock mid 13s and below. The TT probably hi 12s, V8 probably low to mid 12s. Not to mention the z/28 or ZL1. Don't know about them.
You really have no clue do you.

Very possible to see a test mule in the 3rd quarter of '14. I imagine we will see a 6th gen in full dress by the following year's Chicago and NY Auto Shows.

I sure hope soon. We've decided to wait for the 6th gen to come out.

Based on GM's recent history you will not see anything outside of the 1 year window. That would mean the soonest would be LA in November? Then Detroit (January 2015, Chicago (February 2015) or New York (April 2015).

Look at the Corvette. How long before production was it released at an auto show? How long prior did you start to get performance specs?

It's always a balance between giving out information that would make you think about buying a competitor but also not make you wait from buying the current car.

Keep in mind our friends in Dearborn revealed a "finished product" without "full disclosure"...because they were still finalizing exactly what the finished products would be. In content as well as specifications.

Number 3's timelines, based on his experience and recent GM history, are reasonably accurate...

As has been mentioned, when basing a "new" product on an existing platform, the chassis and component development can be "public" without "flopping your cards"...

The Z/28 was revealed in March of last year and orders started about a year later. The C7 was revealed in January and orders started a few months after. We haven't seen any mules, that I know of.

I've said it before but I'll say it again...

When the new Mustang starts hitting dealer lots (September-ish?), GM will start throwing the Camaro faithful a few bones... just in case we are tempted to stray.

It is weird we haven't been seeing test mules yet. Unless they are using ATSs for testing. If we don't see them by June or July I would be very surprised.

Or CTSs.

We don't know which Cadillac is closer in size to the new Camaro (though I'd personally prefer something closer to the ATS).

This is correct.. The C7 was revealed in January 2013.. Rick Hendrick's Chevrolet had one at their dealership here in Duluth, GA around September/October 2013.. So production can move pretty fast.. My iPhone dates these photos October 2013 I took on my way back from a business trip...

'17 model is my bet. On sale by Spring '16 so they get an extended model year like 2010. Concept debuts at NAIAS in Detroit next Jan maybe?

I'd say 2015.

A "concept" next January?? Are you serious?

Figure on the real-deal car at NAIAS in January. And on dealer lots by the end of 2015 as a 2016. No way they spot the Mustang much more than a year as the new kid on the block.

If 6th gen is the 2016 camaro, i guess it will launch late 2015 and we will see a few teasers at the end of 2014 because of the new Mustang and an officiall reveal in early 2015
