It sounds to me like you're in a win-win situation, and have no room to complain about whatever he gives you. Hopefully you get something you like, but beggars can't be choosers. Hounding him about what kind of car you want is probably not going to get you driving any sooner, or increase your chances of landing a Camaro. And if you're can't talk him into getting you Bumblebee, one of these might be a good option over Mustang. NO visibility issues here

You can adjust to anything with enough time, but I don't know how comfortable I would've been driving had it been my first car, especially starting out. You can do it if you're careful, don't get me wrong. Just letting you know that even for someone that's been driving for some time now, it's tricky. Has your dad driven the car yet?

2011 mustang v8. For your age that's big. Some people are die hard ford/chevy fanatics. You said you wanted a v6 camaro, again some people hear v6 and frown regardless of the power.
If it were me I'd be grateful. My first car was a 94 tercel dx and I spent WAY too much money fixing it and keeping it running. What is this some type of reward for those grades in your honors classes through high school? I say take the 2011 mustang drive it, enjoy it, and when you get out of college grab a camaro then if you still have the desire for one, they'll probably be better than the ones out now by then. |

Ah.... well if it's your safety that's got him resisting the Camaro then it's gonna be tough to change his mind (which is a good thing) but it sounds like either way you're getting a damned nice first car.

Dude, if you've got 15k of your own money to go spend on a car, I would highly recommend going and finding a used Cobalt SS. Heck, you'd probably have cash left over for some upgrades. But, for a first car at your age, that's a beast. Plus, it'll definately be a good learning car before upping the ante and getting yourself into a 2012 or 2013 Camaro.
Just a thought... |

My point wasn't about the styling
You could get a Cobalt SS outright and only have to worry about insurance payments. The car would be paid off with the 15k. But, hey, do whatever you want (within your dad's guidelines, that is)... Last edited by CamaroSkooter; 06-01-2010 at 04:45 PM. |
