Camaro vs Maserati

So I took my 2016 Camaro 2SS over to my father in law's yesterday. He recently leased a Maserati Ghibli, and was nice enough to let me drive it. Pretty cool car, although I have to say the low end power was not too impressive.

Anyway, when his wife came out and saw my Camaro, she asked how much it cost, then immediately turned to him to ask why he spent so much money on the Ghibli I just smiled.

Ghibli's dont have any power in the base models as they are a Ferrari sourced V6. They dont get moving until you get into the V8 model.

Probably. They're cheap cars sold for a premium. They use switches and knobs from a Dart and their panel gaps are horrendous for a "luxury" brand.

Is there a Ghibli with a V8? I thought that was only the Quattroporte.

Fun fact: In Europe, you can get the Ghibli with a Diesel.

I believe there are two versions of the TT V6, don't think the V8 is an option in the Ghibli. The only reason to buy a Ghibli that I can see is to give the appearance that you bought an exclusive 120k+ car.

By this point, seems like most car people have realized they are no longer anything special.

Just did a search on Autotrader for used 2017 Maserati Ghibli. 139 results. The cheapest one is $37,996. That one has 43K miles. Two more are under $40K. The price is all over the place though, from the cheapest at $38K up to one with 94 miles selling for $74,695. Average price is about $50K.

My boss owned a 2010 Quattroporte that he bought new for almost $120K. I got a ride in it when he bought it. 400 hp V8 automatic with paddle shifters. It was 8 years ago, but the one thing that stood out for me was how visceral it was. His had the optional $4K exhaust, and it was surprisingly loud and unrefined (in a good way), compared to what I was expecting for a $120K car. I liked the car because I like exotic cars in general, though in my mind, you could do a LOT better with $120K.

We went to church Christmas day in Naples, FL at the Cove Episcopalian Church. It's in Port Royal a very exclusive community. My BIL watched a Maserati Quatrporte start up and he commented on how he liked the sound.

I told him for 2k$ he can buy a exhaust system for his 2017 Yukon that will sound pretty similar..... LOL

Guy at work has one, V6; bought it used. I'm kind of "meh" as to the styling, even considering it's a 4-door. Too each his own...BUT

That horrible exhaust note. Everybody comments on it. When he accelerates out of there in a brisk manner, it makes the most flatulent-ic BLAT on the upshift. Has to be heard to be believed.

I have to wonder if he adds onions and brussels sprouts to his gasoline.

Yep, those prices are in the Kelley Blue Book range for a 2015. The KBB non-CPO dealer price range for a 2017 Ghibli is $44K to $52K.
