Gearing same as SS?

Just wondering if anyone's heard if they're leaving the gearing the same as the SS or if it will be different like the 5th gen.

The 6th gen SS transmission already has the same ratios as the 5th gen 1LE, so the rear differential ratio might be the only thing they change this time around. Considering they're fitting a different differential anyways, a gear change could be part of the package?

Really looking forward to pricing on the 1LE package. I was going to order a 2016 SS until this came out!

EDIT: gearing is the same as the SS as per press release. Thanks for replies

EDIT 2: the ZL1 is getting a six speed with one overdrive? Possible 1LE transmission?

Pretty sure it said 3:73 on the press release...so same.

I'd like to see 3:91 though...

It is a 3.73, but the tire is shorter. The tire is 27.2" tall vs 27.5" tall.
That effectively raises the rear end gear to like a 3.8 in comparison to
the stock SS m6 I believe.

Didn't they also say the 1LE config is not finalized yet? A girl can dream!

Splitting hairs, I know, but most 305/30-20 tires are ~27.3". And once you replace with wider meat, then all that goes out the window anyways.

I am sure you know this, but on Gen 5 1LE's the 3.91 rears were in a sense nullified by changes in the transmission vs. a standard SS. First, fifth and sixth had almost identical final drive ratios, with second, third, and fourth having a slightly higher ratio, but more importantly, ratios that were much closer together. This was a huge advantage when tracking the car, or enjoying a spirited drive through the twisties. I am just clarifying that there was a different transmission matched with the 3.91 rear.

Yup, well aware, same gear ratios in the new one, but a different engine and chassis changes things...I'd still like to have a 3:91.

I understand the cars are different, but what advantage do you see to the larger rear gears if the final drive is not different?

I'm actually happy that they currently seem to come with 3.73's I think that might be the sweet spot with the slightly smaller diameter wheel and tire combo. I would hate for the gears to be too close. Remember it can be over done. I always felt like 4th gen cars with 4.10 gears were overkill and I think that

I know the trans ratios are much different but the Mustang GT PP w/ 3.73's gets a lot of complaints about having to shift to often. Sounds like 3.55's are the sweet spot for them.

Just for fun here are the calculations on 2017 1LE w/ 3.73's (Left) 3.92's (Right)

The ZL1 info says it's getting a six speed manual with a single overdrive , assuming 5th is 1:1? Possible this will see it's way into the 1LE?

That doesn't make sense. It's not like the ZL1 needs the extra gearing to make up for lack of torque.

Thought the same thing, plus, they have to get to decent mileage as well. I have never seen this "one overdrive" claim, and not saying it does not exist, but it seems odd to me.

I've seen other people post the same thing. I'm not sure where it came from or why GM would change from the TR6060.
