I think it's fantastic. They took a "maybe" project that exploded in popularity on the 5th gen and expanded it in every way.

If a ZL1 comes out in the same manner as it did before (loaded, GT-style car)...then perhaps the 1LE decision to stick with 1SS only is a move towards product differentiation? Maybe a 2SS with the 1LE equipment would be too close to the price of a ZL1? I'm just guessing out loud, truly.

The V6 offering is wonderful. Because folks, let's face it...the V8 is out of many people's reach, and will continue to get more expensive thanks to CAFE standards. This is the start of serious attention payed to the "lower" models getting honest to goodness track capability.

The SS standard features list is.....unbelievable. The car is going to be an absolute rocket, and a joy to drive. The 1SS is already so fantastic around town and on the track...this upgrade is going to turn it into a violent weapon of speed and handling. But it leaves one wondering - how do you go faster than this without putting Sport Cup tires and Ceramic brakes?

I had a fully kitted 1LE V6 2012, and I was as fast as the SS and ZL1 cars on the track, unless there was a long straight. I could carry as much corner speed as they could, maybe a little more.

The V6 offering is cool. Some of us don't need all the power of a V8 but like the handling and sportiness of a lighter coupe along with better gas mileage and cost. I loved your car Sycraft, and now the factory will make one! I had a 13 with ZL1 grill, wheels and tires and the handling and feel improved so much. I can only imagine with improved suspension and other goodies. Hope they keep the price right.

^^I'm with this guy. Bummed about no paddle shifted auto. My friend owns New Era Performance and he is a master at tuning the trannies to bark gears. I'd love a 2017 1LE with an auto and a CAI that could rip 11.99's and my GF could drive it. Driving my '14 1LE is a chore in traffic, so I barely have time to take it out. Has 4000 miles right now. I love the V-6 model too. Anything to take Mustang sales away!

I wonder if someone will make a root blower kit for the v6. A well intercooled roots should track pretty well.

I had a centri unit in my v6.. would not do that again.. buy a v8 for that...it was a blast but costly. Something a v6 buyer usually watches out for. A little more financial sense

I think they will keep the SS 1LE package price under $5K. You have to remember that they are omitting standard SS parts to add the upgraded 1LE parts, so much like the 5th gen, it should be a killer package at a killer price!

The LT 1LE will probably be a $3500 package.

*I am Canadian, but my price estimates are in USD.*

Angry

The 6th. Gen SS is faster than the prior 1LE. And now the new 6th. Gen 1LE drives a 3 secs. faster lap compared to the regular 6th. gen SS.
That is incredible, I wonder how it will go VS the actual ZL1 or the Corvette Stingray Z51.
Is a shame that it will not have the A8 transmission as an option, like it wasn't available before, this takes me out of the list of candidates to own one, since I share my autom. ZL1 with my wife that hates driving std. transmission, too bad.
