Drag Pack Set Up

What's everyone got? I was looking at Welds 15" SS7 but read they're actually pretty heavy wheels? Will need to get something with beadlocks

Currently I have 17" Forgestars D5s all around. Skinnies in the front as well. They're alright tbh I just got a hell of a deal on them but I'm going to be doing the 15" rear conversion on my Camaro soon & want to look at other options.

Why 15's and why beadlocks? For aesthetics?

High power/high torque cars tend to like some sidewall give at launch so 15” gives you more sidewall vs 17”. Beadlock is the only way to go as you approach or pass 1K WHP IMO. So easy to spin the wheel inside the tire if you dead hook so beadlock stops that. Superior to screwing around with trying to silicone the bead and having to scrape that crap off when you dismount the tires. Just my 2 cents.

Sure but his setup looks like na/bolt on. I’m closing in on 1k wheel and 15” bead locks are not in the top 5 of next things I plan to do to my car.

Agreed 15” is overkill for an NA setup if that’s indeed the case.

I don’t know any Gen 6 Camaro in the 8’s not running 15’s but I could be mistaken. If you were running a PD blower you might feel differently at this point haha.

Challenge accepted in regards to 8’s without 15’s! I might feel different if I were running a pd blower like you say but the adjustable power of turbos is why I built the car like I did.

Sorry hella late on the reply. But yea I'm NA but will be drag racing it a lot. With the set up I'm on I plan on trying to get mid 9s NA so might as well get a 15" set up & beadlocks

Definitely don’t need 15” if you’re NA. 9’s are easily attainable with 17” setup.
