Question If you had the chance to convert a ZL1 1LE to a 10SPD, Would you??

Just throwing this out there to get any pros/cons of the 10 spd swap. My car will be going in for mods soon, SC company doesn't have the parts available so we have to wait another 4-5 weeks. That being said I will be in the market for another car soon, so why not a 10 spd ZL1 to do a full swap. Or would you get a wide body hellcat and put on a Magnuson 2650? I have a certificate for the blower but it expires in September so unless the LT4 2650 comes out before then it would be better used on the hellcat if I go that route.

Lack of a 10 speed option was a major factor of me choosing a standard ZL1.

I didn't mind that it was only made in a 6SPD, but now I wonder what would happen if we did the swap. Have you driven the 1LE?

Nope. I’m just saying I MAY have considered it if it was available with a 10 speed. I didn’t make my purchase largely for track use.

I don't think everyone that bought a LE will use it on a track. PROS or CONS not why you or I got a ZL1 lol

Hahah sorry. I probably should be sleeping instead of posting!

Pros: You can relax if you are often doing city driving, or driving in heavy traffic. 10spd equipped ZL1s are faster in a straight line. There is something uniquely awesome about the 10 speed in comparison to other autos.....hard to explain. You kinda need to own one and put a lot of miles on one. They have personality for an auto. It’s amazing seeing the tach pinned an entire pull because the gears are so close. I think novice to intermediate driver will be FASTER on track with an a10 than the same car with an m6. Advanced driver will likely be proficient enough in either. The m6 bog issue ruins any drag racing launches.

Cons: Some a10 Cars seem to struggle with high temps during extended track sessions.....particularly if you are following other cars closely in hot weather (some a10s have zero issues with heat). Driving stick can be rewarding, you are more involved in the experience. The a10 is heavier than the m6.

Anyone who has put an A10 on the mat down a long straight knows the feeling!
I'm lucky to get to drive Daytona and Sebring both with very long straights and flooring that car coming out turn 16 Sebring or the Bus stop Daytona, never gets old!

Yes. I drive mine all the time, and traffic here is awful. I've done the left-leg workout in traffic with performance cars for 15 years - got tired of it. I love what the 1LE is, but wasn't ready to hate life in traffic again when driving the fun car to work.

I'd love to see what it could do on a track, in terms of just a one off thing... I still think the 1LE would be faster with the A10..

I agree - I just don't think the long-term durability would be there if someone tracked the car on a regular basis compared to the manual transmission. But, maybe it would be.

Choices are great.

I would not. I love the Manual. But I'd also by a manual Gt3 911.
