Took car in for oil change/tire rotation and car is now scratched.

This is about a foot back from the passenger front wheel.
Any ideas how this might have happened? Maybe they lifted it on the wrong point? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

looks like they hit it with the lift arms when they went to slide them under the car.

Good Luck man

Nightmare scenario right there. Sorry that happened to you. Other people working on your car is a terrible proposition. I know it's unavoidable for some, but dealer techs usually just don't care.

Man that sucks. Went to the dealer the other day after making an appointment to have the cargo divider looked at. TSB in hand. Just wanted them to make sure they had parts and could fix it. 5 minute fix. Lady said I would have to leave it there for a couple days before they could get to it. Said they didn’t have parts in stock. I said please order parts and I will bring it back. Said it didn’t work that way that I would have to leave it. Told her I would be finding a dealership. They don’t understand how some of us feel about these cars. I have 6 work truck and 4 personal vehicles for wife and kids. And I don’t hesitate to drop them off and have them worked on. Scratch, ding, scuff no big deal. But this car is my dream car. They don’t get it. Sorry about the scratch man. Don’t let them fix it with a marker and make you live with it. Teach them a lesson.

Thanks for the paranoia you've just given me as I wait for my car's oil change to finish lol.
But seriously, I hope dealer resolves this to your benefit.

Looks like maybe they could do some ZL1 side rockers and cover it.

The worst part is the person who did that damage knew they did it. And instead of doing the right thing and telling you or their Mgr, they act like it never happened. Cowardly. That would be enough for me to never return. But first they need to make it right.

To lift one of these cars on a two-post, you need a spacer on the end of the arm that lifts the car to raise the lift pad. If you don't, the arm will hit the rocker right where see it. That is exactly what happened to your car. The tech didn't put the spacer on the end of the arm.

Obviously you should not have to do this out of pocket, but any one of those paint chip repair kits should be able to take care of this. If I ran a dealer, and mechanic did this, he'd have to pay for this out of pocket, or be out of a job.

That’s exactly what happened to mine during an oil change. On site body shop buffed it out. Always inspect before leaving. It’s a must.

Unfortunately this can't be buffed out. The paint is literally ripped off.
My guess is a $300-$400 paint job if done correctly. I'm meeting with the general manager in a couple of hours. I'm hoping for the best. I usually inspect my car after service. They didn't even air up the tires correctly. Each tire was deflated more than when I took it in. I'm frankly worried they messed other stuff up.

This! Good advice!
Had my Colorado in for some work (it was cutting out) they found and fixed the problem, however not without marks from tools being thrown up on the dash...unfortunately I didn't notice till weeks after (rarely have passengers) and didn't have a leg to stand on to go back to them with it...
