Sorry for the turmoil folks- unintended consequences. I had thought I had accepted the Camaro's fate and hated that "they" had made another version of Mustang that Chevy could have out engineered.
I test drove a GT Mustang in '86. It was faster than the Camaro of that time, but in the 'stang it felt like I was sitting in my kitchen chair- too high up and bolt upright. A nonstarter in my book.
Never have looked at another Ford ("fix or replace daily" was a popular Ford hating joke of the time- do people still use that?), until they came out briefly with a Taurus combined with a Yamaha 6 cylinder that made 220hp (big #'s for that time). It was the SHO engine (super high output) and was available with a manual trans! So, in 1990 I had 3 kids, a wife and a '86 Z/28.
Long story short, I bought a Dodge Caravan and kept that Camaro up until my oldest was about to start driving.

GM has dipped its toe into pure idiocy with eliminating both the ICE powered Impala and Camaro. There will continue to be a market for these two platforms. I suppose I'll just have to buy BMW in the future.

No one who owns or has ever owned a Camaro - from 1967 to today - will ever fully get over GM cancelling the car. Again. For the second time.

Unforgivable.
