2012 or 2013 Corvette GS or 2017 SS 1LE??? Thoughts and comments?
First of all, been a lurker for awhile, finally decided to register as I walk down this car purchase path.
I'm a long time car guy, have been since I saw my first Corvette up close. My second car was an IROC-Z Camaro that I sold to help pay for college expenses. Loved that car. Since then I've owned probably 10 or so different cars including a 1995 Trans Am, a C5 Z06 among a host of sporty(ish) sedans. This car will NOT be a daily driver. I'll either keep my BMW 335i or buy a GTI or a new Accord or something similar to DD. This will be a one or two day a week car + track car A couple of cars on my short list C6 Corvette Grand Sport 2017 Camaro SS 1LE (slightly used) Pro's for the Corvette: It's a Vette Looks great Won't depreciate as much Makes good power Good on the track Removable top Excellent and deep aftermarket Cons: Less practical (but not by much?) Older engine tech No warranty Camaro SS 1LE Pros: Rare...very VERY rare around here Better track car out of the gate (or so it seems) Warranty More comfortable seats LT1 engine Better 6MT Better rear diff Less likely to have been beat on and have a questionable history Probably more comfortable for me with a helmet, more headroom (I'm 6'6) Love the blue on these cars and the updated interior/infotainment Cons: Will depreciate more Doesn't look as good Not a vette With similarly equipped tires does the 1LE really handle better??? I actually DO track my weekend car. Hallett is tough on brakes and fairly technical so the 1LE may actually be the better choice strictly for tracking. Removable top of the vette would certainly have some appeal for cruising around town. I could also pickup a C5 vette with a lot of money left for track days and doing brakes, etc... Both the C6 or Camaro would be kept relatively stock. Only time I'd do something other than minor bolt ons would be if I broke something major or had to rebuild an engine...which in either case is probably very unlikely. I would like to know your opinions. Yes I know it's a Camaro board but if you've got significant experience behind the wheel of both, I'd like to know about it. |

I am a fully self-trained and self-certified amateur internet psychologist.
Although you have owned both, I see a Corvette guy trying to talk himself into a Camaro. |

Ive Driven the vette , are both cars clean ? are they stock ? mileage ? I would lean towards the 1le but no clear winner honestly , those 6th gen vettes with LS power are nothing to shake a stick at ... 49%vette 51%1LE tough call

I did the same comparison but with a Z06. I like how the C6 looks with the widebody fenders. It also has even weight distribution and lower curb weight. The road feel, interior, and overall refinement are a lot better in the 1LE. Overall I found the Camaro more satisfying for my use. If you want the faster car get the Corvette and mod it.

Maybe it just comes down to the best deal that I can find... Quote:
Both are 6MTs, I've been told the Camaro's have a lot more headroom which matters for wearing a helmet since I"m 6'6 but my buddies C6 doesn't have headroom issues... |

Go drive both and it'll take half a second to realize the C6 is from an earlier century in terms of chassis and suspension development, and it's still a Malaise-era GM interior.
If you want a Corvette, then there's no changing your mind. If you want the better overall car, it's not even a fair fight. Personally, I couldn't bring myself to buy a Corvette solely on the major image problem they have around here. They're almost exclusively owned by Big 3 retirees wearing embroidered jackets and congratulating themselves on how few miles they put on their babies for the 3 months a year they dare to risk driving them. It's pathetic. If there's a traffic holdup, guaranteed there's a slow Corvette causing it. Maybe Corvette's aren't as loathed where you are, but it's a major generational sticking point here.

I like my 1LE a lot more than my old '09 C6 w/Z51. The Camaro is much more modern than the C6, more so than the years would suggest.

Camaro. If it was a C7 I'd say Vette but a C6? Camaro all the way. C6 looks incredibly dated compared to a new Camaro both inside and out but thats just my opinion, get what you like best.
