How Do I Fix This Paint Transfer/Dent
So when I was leaving a garage (backed in) I turned to sharply to avoid something in the driveway and the fender rubbed on the side but right when it happened I backed out off the wall. Luckily the wood was really soft and it is only paint transfer and no scratch. I got most of the white paint off but stopped cause I wanted to do it the right way. I don't really have any products at home except soap, should I get a clay bar to remove the rest out?
Also, now there is a dent I think you can see it in the pictures. It is big in surface area and shallow but you can't really notice it unless you look right at it. How would I get that out? I tried pulling the fender back to see if I can pop it out but I can't get to it because there is another panel.

I don't see any photos but you could use 3m Perfect it II Rubbing Compound and a decent pad on a good DA polisher. I have a porter cable and use Lake Country pads for this type of damage.
As for the dent I'd head to a local paintless dent repair tech. As long as there are no major creases you should be in good shape. |

For the dent I'd use a suction device to pull it out, the scratches I'd use meguiars m105 and go from there

First off it's your 1/4 panel, not your fender. The panel has a couple dents/distortions plus
some paint damage. I would take it to a dentless repair shop to see what they can do. We had a 2015 Honda Accord with 2 large fender dents. A dentless repair shop removed them for $265.00. Came out perfect without painting. May not work here, but worth a try.

There is no paint damage it's just transfer from soft wood. I can scratch it off but I wanna get it off the correct way

I'd be using a soft cloth with some polishing compound cut down with plenty of water to pull up the paint but lessen the rubbing off of the green paint. by hand. Dont rush it.
If you are lucky, a COMPETENT PDR guy will hopefully be able to work the dents (multiple) out of this damage. |

I would find a pro paint less dent repair shop, then buff the paint transfer off with a light compound. Start very light and only as abbrassive as you need to get it out.

Why use polish with towel instead of clay bar? Just wondering

To be honest- I've had to do this type of repair twice on my vehicles. For the same reason. Just my preferred method. |

Seriously man, a clay bar may not cut through the paint transfer. I rubbed my garage in he truck. Had to use polish to get it all off. Try the clay if you want, you may have to use polish if you can't get it all off. Even then, the clear will be scuffed and need buffed or polished anyway.
Been there. |

You can probably do it by hand (don't need a polisher), but a DA would make it go quicker. Get some Meguiars M105. Put the M105 on a nice, clean cloth and start rubbing in a circular motion. Use some pressure and work at it until the white paint is gone. If this doesn't work, then you need to get your hands on a DA. Follow up with a nice coat of wax. The Meguairs is a nice product and it won't damage your original paint. I don't know what to do about the dent. Finding a paintless dent repair guy is your best bet. Good luck man.

First try to wax it off. Then get more aggressive with compound if that doesn't work.

I have a bug/tar remover that removed paint transfer my wife had from a door ding. I had a hard time polishing it out. I'm sure it will take off that paint... rubs right out.
Problem is I had it forever and they don't sell it same way anymore. I bought some newer stuff and it was worthless like spraying water. I'm guess the bug/tar remover in an aerosol spray might be similar to what I have. It's lots easier to remove that paint with a solvent than trying to polish/sand it flat. when you get done, wash it thoroughly and re-wax it. and no it shouldn't damage clear coat. But go slow and make sure. here's the stuff I have... I love this stuff... always bails me out of problems but the product is so old it's like cottage cheese now. http://www.gianteagle.com/74660015254.aspx |
