Trans am Edition

Do you think GM will ever make a Trans am edition camaro, like maybe in 2019 for the 50th anniversary of Trans AM. Instead of bringing it back as a separate car.

Why would they?
Trans Am= Pontiac
Camaro= Chevy

Bringing it back as a special edition limits its exposure, bringing it back as a separate car maximizes its exposure to a wider audience and therefore maximizes its profit margin which as we have all found out is all that GM cares about.

Besides, Pontiac is closed...
They would have to reopen it to officially do this, they are much more likely to do a new GTO throwback than a trans Am- Camaro crossover.
Personally, I would love to see a new GTO retro throwback, instead of the Oldsmobile Alero looking 2004-2006 "GTO" rebadged Aussie car

The name "Trans-Am" is not owned by GM. It is owned by the SCCA so GM would have to pay some royalty to SCCA to use the "Trans Am" name. I believe they had to pay SCCA in the past for every vehicle back when the car was still in production. The price was pretty reasonable in years past but it might not be so cheap next time.

Is this possible to do again today? - maybe. Likely? - not in my opinion.

I guess I can understand why a few Trans Am/Pontiac fans might be interested in something like this, but if it did happen, what would a 'Trans Am package' involve? At most, maybe different taillights and some TransAm/Pontiac badges? That'd be kind of sad, actually.

Once upon a time, there was this thing called the Pontiac Trans Am. It was sold by Pontiac dealers, and it was similar to the Camaro but not identical... Different headlights, different taillights, some slightly different sheet metal in places. But it was its own thing. It wasn't just a Camaro with Pontiac cues... at least no more so than a Camaro was just a Trans Am with Chevrolet cues.

But now, unless GM resurrects Pontiac, a Camaro with a 'Trans Am package' will still just be a Camaro. Sorry.

Yeah, maybe but not likely...
There is the Firebreather Camaro, from the movie Jinn...
I think it looks sweet, and kinda like a throwback to the Trans Am..

Unfortunately I doubt it unless they bring back Pontiac as niche brand (which is always possible since they wouldn't sell the brand to Roger Penske).

I think the Spring Edition is about as close to a Trans Am as you are going to get nowadays.....to me this just looks like something Pontiac would have done.

I certainly hope the days of badge engineering are in the past.

It would need more of those speed enhancing stickers. Could they make them bigger, too?
