Warranty up soon on 2010, any suggestions? (First Post)

Hello All,

I've been following Camaro5 for quite a while, but just joined up the other day, so this is my first post.

Here's my question: Are there any common problems, covered by the initial warranty, that are lurking below the surface? Something that I may not notice now, but could end up causing me grief down the road?

I've had my Camaro for almost three years now (January), and have never had any problems with it that required me to have work done.
The car has run perfectly for me, I have 22,000 miles on it, and do have an extended warranty.

The only reasons I've had it in to the dealer are for oil changes and a scratch from a sun umbrella that I really can't blame Chevy for!

Thanks!
Mark

The only real long term issue you might want to guard against is carbon build up. If you do not already have one I would suggest picking up a good catch can.

Welcome to Camaro5! Although its stressful when your warranty is about to expire, if there are no current issues, there isn't much you can do. They won't preemptively fix things anyway.

Mark, don't know of any lingering problems, I have had mine a little over 3 years and have 46000 miles on it, and the only time I have had in back in the dealers hot was to drive in, park it, adn go and see someone I know there.....but never for any problems.

oh and btw.....Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, dad's, wive's, husband's, girlfriend's and boyfriend's here don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!

The warranty that is about to expire is your bumper-to-bumper. Power train is 2 more years. That being said, have your A/C checked, make sure the spoiler is securely attached, and have your passenger side airbag sensors checked. Those are things I've had issues with - and the airbag sensor went out 3 weeks AFTER the warranty expired. I have extended warranty, but it cost me $100 with that, rather than nothing. Also, the clips holding the leather seat covers on have broken twice, for no apparent reason - can't hurt to look at those either.

I need to take mine in also.

1. Spoiler rubbing deck lid and chipping off the paint under it.

2. Brake master cylinder cap leaking.

Thanks for the advice. I will be taking it in soon for an oil change, and will definitely consider the recommendations given. Sir Nuke, you at a nuke plant? I'm at St. Lucie Nuclear on the east coast of Florida.

They will want to touch up your paint, and will replace the master cylinder cap but will continue to leak if fluid is overfilled.

I saved you a trip.

Sir Nuke does work at a nuke in Texas. I think he's been there for 30 years.

Check the plastic piece on the side of the driver's seat where the controls are. They tend to break (pull away from the seat). I had to have mine fixed. If broken) They will replace it & add a reinforcing piece that is installed in newer Camaros but was not in 2010's. And heve them update your PDIM. Just tell them you get loud static pops & problems with indexing using Ipod. There are a ton of threads on C5 where you will find the info to give them on the fix. I'd search it for you but time to get ready for work.
