From one "modaholic" to another:

List what you want your car to do. A set of specific goals.

Reach those goals...

THEN GO APE-SHIIT ON IT's ARSE!!!!

I don't "justify" anything. I have a job, make money, buy what I want.

alot of it is common sense. balancing what you need to pay bills, balance what you should put in investments and savings for future, and disposable for enjoyment, whethers its dinners out, vacations, cars, motorcycles, boats, etc. enjoy it. but you use common sense and dont spend money you dont have. enjoy it and the car!

I would even say 12 months expenses.

Still, life is very short. You think you have forever, then you don't even get to say goodbye.

Gotta have some fun.

As long as I pay my bills on time, have food on the table for me and my dogs, have a retirement account between my 2 jobs, I don't have a problem modding my cars. Cars are my passion, my hobby and it brings enjoyment to my life.

Spend, as long as you also save, because you only have one life. If you have children, then definitely put things aside for them as well... but not at the cost of not enjoying yourself also.
Coudn't have said it better myself.

That works both ways. To my husband, a car is just a way to get from one point to another. He didn't even picked out his last car, I did it for him. I come from a family of all girls, cars was/is something I share with my dad, sisters and my father-in-law. My husband just doesn't get it.

I save a certain amount every time I get paid and my mods will be a little slow because we are also saving to build a new home. I'm totally OK with that. I have my CAMARO!

Indeed. I don't know how many times I told my parents to go out and enjoy themselves. I'd tell them that they could afford to... and I sure wasn't waiting for their money. My sister bought them a new TV once for Christmas and had to smuggle it into their house and set it up and get rid of their old dying one... because they'd have refused it. Geeze, enjoy your life folks. Definitely make sure you take care of your kids also, but THEY want you to be happy too, believe me.

What ever remorse I felt if any, was completely gone after it was done! A stock SS is a joke to what my car feels like now. It was worth all of it! But make sure you spend money on what makes a car better to you. For me it's power, performance and then a drag look. Some people put all this flash on them, personally hate all that crap.

The way I see it, my kids inheritance is 2 bachelor degrees and a masters that I paid out of my pocket so there wouldn't be any need to repay student loans. I did without a lot to do that so I don't feel guilty at all about spending money now to have a little fun.

I worked hard to have what I have and I'm damn well going to enjoy it as much as I can. You only go around once so make sure it's a fun ride.
