7.425 is the length for a ls3 7.40 for a l99..... and mine is great with 7.425 and noise free valve train....... remember its 25/1000 of an inch or 2.5/100ths of an inch a very small feeler gauge ..........

Stock lifters can take over 2 turns of preload so that's not the problem. Also LS3's and L99's have the exact same pushrods from the factory 7.400. Do a compression check on it and let us know what it is. Thanks

OP, I see you have the Holley valve covers. Make sure the coil harnesses are installed in the correct orientation. They can be installed backwards, meaning the connector for #2 is on #8 and so on. I have seen this before and it will do exactly what your engine is doing.

Coil wire colors:

#1,2 Pink/Red
#3,4 Pink/Dark Green
#5,6 Pink/Light Blue
#7,8 Pink/Purple

1,2 are the the front 2 or back 2.....if so that may be backwards

I put a ton of assembly lube on everything, so I hope that everythings ok, there is no metal on the dipstick....idk about in the oil filter

UPDATE!!!

Well got it checked out and it looks like the coil harness was backwards, or swapped idk....The squeaking is the header gaskets..they say($200) for diag and replace gaskets. I told them to go ahead...But they said it runs on its own now....
