Unhappy Not happy with my Hawk Ceramic brake pads

I installed Hawk ceramic brake pads on my 2015 SS about a month ago. They advertised Ultra-Low Dust on their site but I'm getting the same amount as the original brembo pads. I tried calling their tech support but it seems they only have 1 person and he is at SEMA until next monday.

Strange, mine didn't dust that much. On my current camaro I installed akebonos and they dust damn near nothing at all. Way less than the hawks.

Every pad will dust......and our wheels are not dust friendly. I say get used to it, get over it and just wipe em down. Thats what I do.

I understand every pad will dust but I didn't see any improvement. Before I pulled the trigger on the Hawk pads I searched the forum and alot of people said it did cut down in dust. Maybe they put the wrong pads in that box,

I think a lot of people "want" to believe they see less dust.....especially when they spend big money. But, yes, Hawk does claim less dust.....but so does anyone wanting to sell their product. Have you ever noticed how every vehicle has won a JD Powers award?

I have to say for Me Hawks was a lot less dust than OEM. Yes they still dust but not near as much. If I could only get rid of the dam occasional squeal....

If you want little dust, try the akebono. Now my car looks dusty while my rims still look clean. I haven't washed my car in a couple of weeks, I'll take a pic of my rims tomorrow so u can see what they look like.

Here are a couple of pictures of my car. It's pretty dirty and the rims have dirt on them from the weather. But almost no brake dust. And this is after several weeks of driving without washing the car.

Thanks for the pic's
Which model akebono pad did you get ? On their website it gives just one model for all Camaros. Shouldn't there be a different pad for Brembo and non-Brembo pads ?

Akebono ASP1053 Rear Ceramic Brake Pads

Akebono ASP1001 Front Ceramic Brake Pads

I bought them from ebay, from a seller called trueblueparts. I talked to them before hand to make sure they fit, and sure enough it fit right away.

And yes, there are different part numbers for the non brembos. But these numbers are the ones you want if you have brembos.

My hawk pads dust about 10% of what the stock pads did. Did you bed the pads?

Thanks for the part numbers. Whats weird is that when I put those part numbers on the Akebono site it says not found. I found them on Amazon from the same seller. (but I just noticed that ebay is cheaper )

Yes, I bed the pads. I'm also getting a thump sound when I stop and release the brake.

My Hawks dust about 1/2 what the stock Brembos did. The dust they make does not rust like the Brembo dust.

Dust less = Stop Less

Friction stops your Camaro grinding away some of the rotor and some of the pad. If there is less dust, there is less braking. If your brake dust doesn't rust like OE your pads are softer than the OE pads and grind away less rotor. The rotors are iron. Iron rusts.

GM spent millions of dollars testing and developing excellent brakes for the SS. Replace your rotors and pads only with OE parts, unless you track your Camaro hard. If you track, your track pads will be harder than OE make more dust, squeal like a banshee and stop better.
