Step 6! Remove 10mm Bolt from brake line hold assembly (below pic)
---7! Place ratchet on top of the line and unscrew the line from the rubber part of the line. (pic 2) Your Stock line is removed! I replaced mine with Goodridge stainless steal lines |

Bolt in your new line using the steps to remove the stock line!
Next is to remove the caliper. It is held in with 2 bolts! Remove the 2 bolts and the caliper will be removed! Next slide your rotor off....there will be a star screw holding it in! Your rotor is off and you are down to the wheel hub! I always like to clean the rust off the hub using a dremel. |

Install your new brake rotor!
Install new caliper Tighten 2 bolts and use blue loctite! Attach new brake line to new caliper make sure everything is tight and not loose Bleed brake system.......there are 2 bleeding valves on the calipers...bleed them until you have all of the air out of the system and you do not see any bubbles! Install wheel Torque wheel to 100foot lbs Go test brakes and brake in your new pads! |

Caliper bolts are torque to yield. You need to torque them to a specific value then add 90 degrees.
The brake lines also have specific torque requirements as well. Here are the torque settings for the front brakes (from ZL1 brake upgrade installation instructions): Front rotor screw (torx): 10 NM [ 89 LB IN ] <- inches, not feet Caliper bolts: 40 NM [ 30 LB FT ] + 90 degrees Brake line to Caliper: 40 NM [ 30 LB FT ] Brake line to Interior brake line: 16 NM [ 12 LB FT ]

What about the rear brakes? I'm picking up a set of red 1LE Brembos and have read that the V6 dust shield need to be replaced with V8 dust shields on the rear. Anything else to be concerned about? Thanks for the write up as it answered a lot of questions for me!

You can change them but a pain to do. Most of us just trimmed the V6 shields and painted the raw edges with black paint. Other than that fits and works great!

My other suggestion if you are going to do this replace the OEM pads with Hawks Pads the brake dust will kill ya.
