MAX. SPEED ON 1LE

Is there a maximum speed limit on the 1LE .....will the car shut down or go in limp mode....just wondering? Due to the weather, I haven't had a chance to try it.

Should be 155 unless the limit has been removed with a tune. Never done it myself, but I think it just doesn't go faster - shouldn't shut down or anything.

There was another thread not to long ago about this same question.

I know there is a speed "warning" that can come on but that is programmable on every Camaro to my knowledge and does not limit the speed. I've only had my car up to about 130-5. It felt planted.

I got mine up to 150 right after it was broken in. It was charging hard still, but I ran out of road and nerve, so I shut'er down. It felt very under control and planted at that speed, though.

Mine was getting pretty light at 143 but the road was not too level, straight though just not very level

On my way to my Silver state race last year,i got mine to 155, 3 times within 2 min.The DIC says speed limited to 155,how ever my actual speedo went to 158.There is no loss of speed it just maintains this speed.

I'm sure after 140mph, lift becomes a problem, unless you add the appropriate rear wing and air extractor mods up front.

I thought the 1 le had the front and rear wing tuned to allow speeds of 165+ is that not correct?

The 1LE has the same rear spoiler as a standard SS. It is just painted a satin black. Well a 2013. IDK about the 2014...

What I wrote concerned the '13 1LE.

In fact I seem to recall Oppenheiser saying or writing something about lift…..may try to dig it up later.


It would be interesting to see more info on this versus the '14's with the hood extractor and more aggressive rear wing spoiler.
It would also be interesting to compare peak top speed '13 1LE vs '14 1LE, since there are significant differences in aerodynamics.
'14 surely must have more downforce….

Going back to the '13 1LE, sure it has a front splitter, and that will help, but it ain't enough to feel nice n planted for speeds over approx. 140 mph.

The '14 has the top speed aero advantage. This is one of the reasons I'm doing a GTZ hood and trying to figure out which rear spoiler. I currently have a Vert spoiler but I think the aftermarket has something better for me. The ZL1 rockers are installed and I'm on the fence about a ZL1 rear diffuser.

Saying all that if I do the rest of the above mods It will make my '13 1LE much more capable and still look better than a '14... lol

I'm kidding you guys with the '14...
