Oil Life Monitoring System Question
Our Camaro has 340 miles on it and the OLMS is at 27%. Called the dealer and the service guy said that should have been reset when we took delivery. Does this sound right?

How long was the car in the lot before you bought it?

I guess I would just be concerned with how long the car sat before you bought it. If it sat for a good long time it might be wise to go and swap out the oil and start fresh.

The OLM goes to zero after one year, no matter whether you use the car or not. It is time sensitive, in addition to your driving habits.

Dealer shouldn't reset it on delivery otherwise why would Chevy build time sensitivity to it.

In our situation the car is a DD so I'm not concerned with the age of the oil.
Whether or not the dealer should reset it on delivery is another discussion. |

I think resetting it at delivery is not a good practice. I would want to know if the car had set on the lot for 6 months. You need an oil change due to the time running out, not the mileage.

I'd find your build date and just go with 1 year from that date if you don't hit the miles before then.

The owners manual ( quoted below ) gives the guideline for owners to follow. I would never consider resetting the OLM without an oil & filter change.
"The engine oil and filter must be changed at least once a year and, at this time, the system must be reset."
