5th Gen had much better build quality built in Canada. Sorry guys, but being built in the U.S. is NOT a plus.

I agree my fifth generation 2014 had zero issues from new through two years of ownership, however my fourth generation 1996 vert had badly mismatched paint and bad uneven panel gaps. I remember stopping at a Toyota dealer to look at celiacs and the staff there was busting on the obvious poor build quality. I would have never expected to see these issues on gen6....I'm shocked!! So far I'm lucky with my gen6 vert as the only issues I have found is the trunk not always opening common issue which for some reason hasn't been resolved at the factory yet, and a slight rattle at times when the top is up. I really thought GM had their initial quality down as they are getting great reviews. Kinda sad

Oh I also have the thin paint way inside the door jams and in the convertible top storage area but I'm thinking this is just the way they are painting all of them. I am just ignoring it i guess i will live with it as I may end up with something worse if I try to have it corrected.

After reading this thread I have stopped by several dealerships to take a look at the 18's. Sadly I have seen several examples of poor fitting front facias some very noticeable mainly on the passenger side and it seems only on the 18's. All the leftover 17's I looked at seemed pretty good. If you are going to be in the market for a new Camaro pay special attention to the front facia especially were it meets the fender.

and when any issues brought up its always a surprise to them , lol its like no one questions all these visible issues
i could see if it was just mine having the issues but no matter where they are sent, they have clear issues that as a company are ignoring.. sickening figure id also post this lovely gem of an engine bay, so now i have to strip it or paint over it to have everything the colour it should be, no one could tell me why its black or what it was either.. |

That appears to be a thin paint issue that has been a problem on some units under the hood. And I totally agree.... WTH happened to quality control? Gen5 camaros where built like tanks and seemed to have exceptional exterior fit and finish as compared to what we are still seeing 3 years in with Gen6... Sad!!!

My 5th gen was awful...doors were off, console was loose, trunk rattled, etc...my 6th gen is very good. No complaints here...

Anyone from camaro5.com, can tell you 5th gens were not ALL trouble-free at all. Toyota and other Asian companies do not have the wheel of quality. Lastly, Mustang and Challenger are much worse overall.

6th gen could be the last gen again. Poor sales, and horrible quality control could be it's demise. I'm done with GM. It's a shame.

There was a Gen6 at my local cruise night the other day and I took a look at the rear fascia.
Looked just like the mis-match in the OP's photo. I had a Cavalier once that looked like that. The gaps on my Gen5 are all near perfect, but yes, there were some other issues in Gen5, most notably the L99 AFM lifters bleeding down, leaky coolant line fittings to oil cooler (both addressed under warranty for me) and the noisy USB interface (I just gave up on that and now use the bluetooth interface for my iPod). |
