LSA supercharger: 10yr/120,000mi warranty

Probably old news, but GM has extended the warranty for the LSA supercharger per GM Document ID 3910786.

If this is a repost, please delete or sticky the original.

It applies to the CTS-V and ZL1 Camaros with the LSA 556/580HP engines.

This is effective 5/22/2014 and covers all models using the LSA from 2009-2013.

they may add the 14 later with a revision to the new special policy or they may have rectified the issue with the 14+ models.

The 14s have a solid isolator from the factory, other years did not

basically the extended warranty was evoked to cover SC failures due to the spring-loaded isolator used in 2012 and 2013. In 2014 they went to a solid isolator eliminating the same type of failure the 2013-2013's were experiencing at times.

What does the failure sound like and what are the signs of it?

i took my zl1 to the dealer to show them the rattle. i have a 2012. show them the exten'ded warranty document from gm. they took the car inside and came back saying that the ratteling is "normal" in this cars. basicly they are afraid to replace a part that didn't completly failed, even if the bulleting says that it might bring worst problems if is not change it.
After 30 minutes talking with the manager he recomended to contact gm directly and ask them to tell him to change it, and he will aprove to change the supercharger.
i contacted gm and i have been waiting ......the custumer rep has been really kind even if she is not in the mechanics, she is trying to find out why they say that the rattle is normal.
does anybody knows in florida about any gm dealership aware of these issues that already did change any supercharger?
any good idea?

IIRC, the original TSB described criteria to measure the rattle.

A certain amount of rattle was indeed considered normal due to the design of the spring loaded coupler. I believe that if the rattle went away above something like 1500rpm , it was considered 'normal' and the SC did not qualify for a replacement.
If the rattle did not go away, then they would replace the entire SC.

The same thing happened to me , I dropped it off last Wednesday and they said they didn't hear anything , so I took it back today and talked to the service manager and he brought out a senior tech and they listened to the rattling and said it was normal
