PSA: Please check your blind spots when changing lanes.

A guy driving a Focus didn't see me next to him and my car suffered for it. What do you all think, totaled or not?

Ouch!!! That totally sucks! The rear quarter damage is the most concerning. Might not be totalled but I wouldn't be surprised if it is.

Quarter repair will be a fair bit of work. But its all fixeable. If fender is only in need of a respray and no structural damage then i doubt it will be considered totalled.

Time to get a skirt kit !

Eeek. Looks bad but that can be fixed without totaling out the car.

I'm a claims adjuster, I'm 95% confident it's not a total loss...

apparently he was "Focusing" too much on the straight ahead...yes its repairable, but make sure you get a boat load for depreciation in the claim for the accident.... and new OEM parts, a loaner car, and a new not just repaired Quarter panel......That should just about insure your car gets a whole respray or Fuss over the paint with kicking it back. Lost value due to the collision with a 1ls and the repair cost etc...may cost more to repair the vehicle than they want to go...... if your lucky you could get out from it to get another car, but you would have to push for it maybe. And it can depend on the value of course of your car and the miles on it..... compared to the repairs versus the loss of value from the accident and the total value of the car compared.

Don't think that's even close to being totaled. A while back a dump truck sideswiped my car while parked, tore the rear quarter, some door damage as well, they cut the rear quarter (which includes the door opening) of the car off and replaced it, similar to what you need done.

One thing that gets me the most are people who cannot set up their mirrors correctly. If you have your mirrors right there are no blind spots while driving. Doesn't mean you shouldn't still do a quick head turn to make sure, but there should never be a gap in knowledge of your surroundings while driving.

IF people would stay off their cell phones either talking or texting this would be less likely to happen

I learned from riding my motorcycle to never ride in someone's blind spot! Sometimes it's not possible in heavy traffic but I try not to do it.

Yep, I try my best to avoid people's blind spot... and if that is not preventable, I try to make sure they know I'm there, with a little help from my V8.

To be honest, I didn't set my mirrors correctly (for many years) until I came on this forum and they taught me the proper way. The way I was taught in Driver's Ed, and from everyone else, was the wrong way. But I've always turned my head, that's just a given for smart driving.

That really sucks! I hope you get it back to new soon, one way or another! And I hope that guy in the focus learns his lesson well, or never drives again!

I'm pretty sure there will always be a blind spot with the left mirror unless u have that mini mirror thing. Either way I always look over my shoulder and I'm not gonna stop
