Hit and Run update DIY repair with pic
So I went and used my wife's blow dryer bought some bumper repair kit and some yellow automotive paint.
I know this does not look 100% professional but it is a nice temporary fix until I can get it in the shop. It sure looks better than that ugly dent! Last edited by yellowrs; 05-18-2014 at 12:35 PM. |

Could have been worse, still sucks.
I really take good care of that car and always make sure it is parked in secure spot. This happen during lunch today, I normally always sit next to the window but not today since the place was packed. What really annoys me the most is that the money for the repair cold have gotten towards a mod. |

yea, they'd cover it. any damage is covered. probably less than a grand though. with a heat gun you could pop the dent out, but then it would need painted and clear coated. and if people are constantly messing with your car I'd lower that detectible and get a dash cam.

You could find a bumper cover on ebay and have a shop paint it in advance for you. Then bring the car in and have them swap them out. Should be under 1000 and you wouldn't have a claim on your record.
Such a shame that people don't have any respect for other peoples property. |

My rear bumper got side swiped in a parking lot at my job during lunch about 2 months ago. I also have Geico. My deductible is $500. There was no dent, just missing paint down to the plastic the size of a quarter and then just graze marks about 6 inches long. The total cost from the shop to blend it back and respray was like $750. So my insurance paid for the $250. So unless your shop gets a new bumper because they can't fix the dent, you're cost will probably be below $1k. Better off getting a bumper off eBay and having it sprayed as others have suggested.

Pretty low point of impact.....I'm having trouble envisioning what part of another car could hit that. Are you sure you didn't hit something without knowing it

Time for a JacFab license plate frame bent to contour. Will cover that right up and you will be legal. Can be removed in two minutes.
