This...

I'm kind of with you oustaz... And there seems to be a lot of cynicism and whining over nothing. I am a little upset with GM, but not with this. GM is in a very bad place right now over having at least 13 dead people over an ignition switch problem. The handling of that is what disappoints me, not a small issue over a key.

That being said, all someone needs to say is "ignition switch" and GM has NO CHOICE but to take some kind of action. And if you still want to bitch about GM over handing you a new key then toss some of the blame to the US Congress for trying to protect your ass.

You don't have to have the recall done, but more than likely the dealer will keep the old keys.

I just went out and tried it...im 5'9"...I drive with the seat back, where my left leg is straight out with my foot on the dead pedal...I drive the turnpike a lot, and use cruise control...
that's the only situation where my knee could come close to the key...cruise on, and I bend my knee, and pull my right leg back...I still have to lift my foot off the floor, but I did manage to turn the key...
cant see that ever happening while driving...
I don't have any thing else hanging on my keys...
I have four fobs for the 2LS, because I had factory remote start added, so I don't think i'll be switching to the separate key/fob...

I think theyre around $65...the other keys have a chip in them too, and are laser cut...don't think you can get them just anywhere...

Camaro Recall

Agreed. If they want to retrofit a proximity thing where I can just turn the ignition without a key it in I'll do it. But definitely not going to give up the switch key. How about all the other models that use the exact same key???

If you can't control a vehicle when something happens, blow out, engine dies, something breaks in the suspension, then maybe you should ride the bus. Accidents happen. Quit passing the buck.
Not directing this at you personally, but just the general public.
Oh how I hate arguments like the "we used to do things like this back in these years, so it's ok now just learn how to do it like back then"

All this while ignoring the fact that back then there were no giant key fob flip out keys.

Hey we also used to paint with lead based paint, use asbestos, and cars....pssshaw we didn't have shalt belts, so if we could make it back then we should get rid of seals belts. And he'll to all you who changed and started doing the safer thing by using belts...no thanks I'll keep my old way of not using improved standards.

I'm 6'4" and my knee is close enough that I expressed this to my wife as we were about to purchase the car. It's a combination of how I have to lean the seats back far enough that my head doesn't smack the ceiling on every bump and the sheer size of the fob.
