Oh, ok. I guess I get spoiled in that regard, around here in MI. We don't lack in performance shops. I guess I forget about stuff like that around some parts of the country.

I'm comfortable with either, but country living makes having a pole barn much more affordable. And, most city roads are too straight and crowded.

I guess I should clarify, I'm looking for areas with fun, curvy roads that are pretty empty. I'm not much of a car show guy. With weather that I can reasonable enjoy year round. Isn't Austin, like 95 degrees for 4 months straight? Is it low humidity? I might plan a trip in August, see if I don't mind
it.

You have the hill country right on the outskirts of Austin with plenty of curvy roads. Austin can get hot for months at a time but it's a dry heat. You have San Antonio right down the road about 80 miles with towns like New Braunfels, San Marcos

Lots of fun things to do in and around Austin. The beach is 3 1/2 hours away with fishing towns like Port Aransas and so on. The only bad thing about Austin is the I35 traffic and the city council

If I was to move there I would live in the Burbs like Round Rock,Leander, places on the outskirts to where If you are retired you don't have to deal with the traffic unless you choose to do so.

I was stationed in San Antonio. It’s humid as hell in the summer. I love Texas, and would live there again, but it’s not Arizona or Nevada when it comes to humidity.

I am not 100% sure on that..I am always passing through for work. Good question though.

Although I also spend a lot of time in your home state, no radar detectors? and >10MPH you get locked up? As soon as I cross into VA the cruise gets lowered VA State Troopers don't mess around..

You know Doug instead of dropping all that money on a Condo in southern California.

Why not get 2 places. 1 in Michigan for the Summer and 1 down south for the winter.

Bet you could find 2 nice places for lees money. Just sayin...

Asheville is definitely not dry, there's a lot of breweries there. https://www.exploreasheville.com/foodtopia/beer-scene/

I have no desire to live where it snows regularly, retirement is a few decades away but I'm planning on staying in the southeast.

Y'all made me think of this sign lol! I'm no where near retirement age but I can't wait to retire lol. I've often thought about where I would want to end up living though. I get bored with things easily. like the beach is great for a couple of days but then I'm done. and I'm that way with a lot of stuff. I love warmer weather vs cold. I would never recommend living near Memphis, TN. just no, it's where I am currently. If it wasn't for my family being here, I would have left a long time ago.

I hear ya. I would love to move back south right now but it would be a hell of a commute to work everyday, lol.
