Supercharge my SS or buy a ZL1
I'm really not sure what to do right now, I can supercharge my SS and get about 580-680 hp. That would be really sick since its all aftermarket and I did it my self instead of it being factory hp. It would cost about 7-10 grand (SC price plus the price to install it)
Or I could buy a Camaro ZL1. I got a offer at a dealer to trade in my 2012 2SS for 32 grand, and buy the ZL1 for 44 grand. It would be about 12 grand more, about the same as the SC and I would get a warranty and a already supercharged camaro. As well as the ZL1 breaks, suspension, quad exhaust and the sick hood and front bumper. Plus I know if I dumped 10 grand into my Camaro SS it would hurt the resale value, no one wants to buy a supercharged Camaro sadly for the same reason I'm nervous putting it on. So what do you guys think? Supercharge my SS or get the ZL1?

The ZL1 will be more reliable due to having stronger components to handle the stress better. Not only that, but you're pretty much maxed out in terms of power in the SS, while the ZL1 still has ways to go. By the time you forge the engine to handle more than the 680hp in the SS you're already past ZL1 territory.
All in all, for that price a ZL1 makes more sense. Now if the difference was lot more between the two cars I would definitely agree that upgrading your current one makes more sense. |

That's a good deal for your car how many miles do you have?
What mods do you have now on the SS? I'm going for ZL1. You get more then just a supercharger.

A ZL1 at that power level is stock with a 100,000 mile powertrain warranty with tons and tons of room to grow. This should be a no-brainer.

Sounds like someone is going to be getting a ZL1
Once you get that ZL1, there is still quite a bit you can do to make it have even more HP without even spending a lot of money, or voiding your warranty for that matter. Just our CAI alone would net you somewhere between 20-25 rwhp gain when its stock, not to mention add nearly a lb of boost. So you could have a fast car, with a warranty, and still mod it!! Get a zl1. It superior in every way. Engine, transmission, rear end, shocks (if you get magnetic ride), brakes, performance wheels/tires... You name it!
Every option costs a lot and you will be investing more to match factory zl1 performance. And the warranty! |

+100 Get the ZL1. If it was my 1SS I would trade for the ZL1 instantly. Go for it!

If you owe more than what they're offering right near it then I wouldn't trade. Unless you want to go the no money down road.

Well after reading everyones comments its pretty clear the ZL1 is the best way to go. I was thinking that as well I'm just sad to sell my car since I put Subs in it, new exhaust and a 3.92 ratio. But the ZL1 is better in every way.
Plus my SS is automatic which was a mistake, the ZL1 I'm looking to get is manual. Quote:
No its a 2013 ZL1 with 8,630 Miles. New ZL1's go for about 60k-69k. Its in perfect condition, the paint looks great, the wheels are perfect no curb runs, and the interior is spotless. Quote:
And nice I would love to get the CAI air filter, I was looking at it for my SS but my dealer claimed it voided the warranty ):. Anyways I'll check with the new dealer and ask if I can do that because extra hp is always good lol. Plus the CAI air filter looks great, way better the factory filter.
