Something doesn't sound right with your trade-in value. They may be giving you that for the trade but they're going to make it up somewhere else.
READ ALL THE FINE PRINT AND LOOK AT EVERYTHING ON THE SALES CONTRACT!!!! Dealers hide all kinds of costs and purposely distract you from them. Hence the upbeat music and other salesmen they get to come over and talk cars with you to get you excited about the purchase. They are not your friends and are NOT out for your best interests. I don't care how nice they're being to you. Even if the salesman is cool, it's the manager and finance guy that have the final say on what the deal consists of from their end. You need to remember this. If you're not good at prices and looking over stuff then find someone. Always have another person with you when buying. An honest second opinion is worth all the money in the world. |

I would say take the ZL1... I did a lot of research on what i bought and got something in my price range that would not make my wife kill me. However if I could have done it. I would have jumped on a ZL1.

Definitely ZL1. I'm a big fan of factory-engineered performance. No patience anymore for working out the bugs that tend to come with custom builds.

ZL1. stronger bottom end motor, stronger rear end, stronger brakes, better suspension, and your SS will still only be worth a SS if some one totals it or you sell it. if the trades under $20k id still do it. youll have more than that in your ss to equal a ZL1.

I should have bought a ZL1

ZL1 for sure, they gave you a very high price on the 2012 2SS almost unrealistic high.

Get the ZL1. It's hands down a better car and will always be worth more than an SS of the same condition.
This is the same discussion that the v6 owners have when going to an SS. Everyone will tell you to get the ZL1 except for a handful of modded SS owners that will say to keep the SS because they feel their car with x mods is better than a ZL1. "I've added x part and my car makes the same power as a ZL1 for half the cost" but every other part on the car is maxed out now. It's not just the power, it's about 100 other things that will make it a better car.

Yes the ZL1 is a better car. Unfortunately it's a pipe dream thinking the dealer will pay 32k on a trade in. Never will happen

Never say never ... I traded my 2010 in 6 months a go for $26k and it sold for $28k, it all depends on the market in your area.

If a dealer is offering you 32k for your car, you better take it and run! Like others have said though, make sure to read the fine print and make sure they aren't tacking on that money elsewhere.

Depends on what you want.
I'd get a ZL1 no question about it, but I bought a 2SS (before I knew about the ZL1) and have upgraded it. Putting a ZL1 (LSA) supercharger in mine -- did a ZL1/1LE upgrade (suspension is 1LE, Brakes are ZL1). -Don |
