305's on stock rims?

Rocking 275s on my 2015 commemorative edition 2SS. Will 305's fit my stock rims?

Sure they will fit, the question is whether it's recommended or not.

305's would likely be a bit much for a stock SS wheel. I think they are 9". For reference, the 1LE and ZL1 have a 285 on a 10" wheel.

You need to know the wheel width. Then you can check a site like tirerack. Look at the tire specs and it will show recommended wheel width.

Short answer is no. You more than likely have a 9 inch wide wheel and 305s require at least a 10-10.5 inch wheel.

With a 9" wide wheel as yours are, 275s are as wide as you can safely go.

I have 295 40 20s on the rear of my car on stock rims. They look great and perform just as good. With just a little more sidewall the ride so much better as well. And you can really tell there's some meat back there

So your operate on the theory that if you don't wreck your car running on tires that are on a rim narrower than the tire manufacturer's specification sheet states is safe, you are doing it right?

Thanks for the recommendation. .....where did I say that I'm not wrecking my car so it's safe. Look around on camaro 5 there are alot of members running a little wider tires on stock rims......let's not overreact .

When you state they perform just as good you're ignoring the pinched tire with reduced contact patch and creating a condition with increased sidewall flex on a heavy car that needs a stiff sidewall. Just as good is false. Sub-optimal would be more accurate.

What occurs with a tire in your configuration at high speed cruising speeds?
