I responded to your PM. I would do the 19x8.5 with a 235/55R19 winter tire. The narrow wheel and tire will cut the snow better.

So true. For those who aren't familiar with -1 sizing for winters, think about the psi you're putting to the ground. More is better in snow. When your car weighs a static 'X' and you reduce the tire footprint, you are increasing psi on the tire contact patch. Hence, the tire will "cut the snow better".

Rudy,

I really appreciate the input. However I think that the larger sizes fit my purposes better as I want to keep the car sporty and really wont be driving it in much snow.

I have had very good luck with 255/45/R19 on my Chevy SS sedan. Was looking for something similar for the wife's Camaro.

Really having a hard time picking between the larger Blizzacks and the smaller Dunlops.

Do you know if a 19x9 wheel running 275/45R/19 will fit the front of the Camaro?

Thanks for your help.

Thank you Rudy & Tire Rack!!!!

Rudy,
Thank you for helping me with my purchase! The Wheels look fantastic. It flurried last week so the wheels went on finally. I am very happy with how the whole process went. The finish almost matches the Stripes on my car.

For anyone wondering I bought a winter wheel and tire package. Wheels are 19X8.5 Axis Sport XQ MGS, the tires are 235/55R-19 Pirelli Scorpion Winter XL. When I drive them in the snow I will let you know how the perform! We all know its going to be great.

Awesome! I think I like those wheels better than the factory ones. Thanks again for your business.

Rudy the 225/55R19 DM-V1's are out of stock.. Would the 235/55 suffice? or would there be an issue? Stock 19 camaro rim.

235/55R19 should fit and work well. No issue fitting the stock wheel.

Hey Rudy, non-Camaro question. My boss has Front 285/40-22, Rear 325/35-22 on his Mercedes GLE450. They're P Zeros.

You guys have any winters that will fit?

We should be able to come up with something. I would suggest giving me a call and i can recommend an inexpensive wheel and tire for use as a spare.

Not in those sizes. He will most likely need to go with a downsize wheel and tire package. Have him give me a call and I can walk him through a couple options.

Rudy sold me the Pirelli Scorpion Winter Xl last year in 235/60R-18. I have the real-world insane New York winter of 2014/2015 under my belt! The tires performed fantastic! There was one storm on a highway where after an entrance ramp there was this long slight incline and a greasy blizzard of snow had just hit. There were SUV's of every sort crabbing sideways up this hill. I left my 2015 RS in 2nd gear and just motored by all of them at like 10MPH. Kind of amazing IMHO. My other car is a Honda Pilot AWD with new Michelins on it. As long as the snow was below the door sill....I'd put my Camaro right up with the Honda in terms of handling, stopping and everything. And you don't sacrifice a ton of performance on Dry pavement, like today when it's 60 degrees out. Unless you are driving the car like you should have a fire suit and helmet on, these things are great. I went with the 18X8 Rial X10 Black wheels. In fact, when I mounted the winter wheels up a few days ago, it reminded me how awesome they look and that I definitely need to get my factory shiny 20" wheels powerdcoated black at some point this winter so that my ride looks this sick year round! Thanks again Rudy for your expertise.

Rudy:

Quick question. Im having trouble finding snow/winter tires for my stock 20in OEM rims. Cant really afford to do a new wheel/tire package as Im buying a house. I found the Blizzaks in 245/50/20, will these be too tall to clear my fenders on the stock rims?? Id like to go with either the Blizzak or the Pirelli Scorpion if possible in the 245 width on all 4 corners, and this is the only size I could find. Any help would be appreciated!

Rudy:

I need help finding Snow tires for my Camaro.. The original stock size is 245/50R19. I was looking at the Pirellis but I want to keep the original rims on as I really cant afford the tire and wheel package. What would be a good tire in 19in? And how wide can I go for the tire to still fit the rims that came on the car?
