long tube header question

is it possible to install headers on your car without a lift? I got a couple ramps, probably raise it a foot, foot an a half...

That's a good start. A good set of jack stands or ramps and a good jack will get the job done. Doesn't hurt to have a second jack and a helper as well. The higher you can get the car in the air the easier the job is when it comes to fitting the long tubes in.

Definitely. The higher you can get it the easier it will be through. Get a friend over to help. That will make it tremendously easier.

Did mine with my brother, front tires on 67 inch, 10 inch lift height 2 piece race ramps. It was a little tight getting the manifolds out but we made it work.

thanks for the responses, does the car need to be tuned after or can I just drive it?

Just get it as high as you can and it can be done.

You can drive it afterword, the car will run fine, but you will need a tune sooner or later to get rid of the check engine light.

Best regards,

You can just drive it BUT you'll throw CEL lights. Are you auto or manual?

Definitely CEL. Mine came on right after I filled up at the gas station after 1 day and about 40-50 miles.

Still wait in' for the CEL on Pfadt Tri-Ys w/HF cats, CAI and SW retro chamber cat backs. Install last summer and 8,000+ miles ago, enjoy your new exhaust.

Not at all.

Most header kits can go on the car without a tune to start with. Probably will get some sort of SES light but nothing to worry about. Personally I wouldn't go beat the crap out of it before it was tuned...but it should still be safe.

Done mine on stands. You'll want to get that auto tuned as soon as you can.I ran mine for a while without being tuned without damage but the afm was annoying when it kicked in.
