I'm not trying to talk you out of it because I give zero F's about things being illegal, but you may not be covered by your insurance in case you have an accident....just a heads up.

While I appreciate you trying to help that is not the case. There is no exclusion in any insurance policy that will deny coverage because of tint on a front windshield. Now, if you are in another accident the other company may try to argue comparative negligence if the accident happens at night if they argue that the window tint inhibited your ability to avoid the collision but that would be a stretch.

Don't worry about your insurance not covering damages to your vehicle.

Correct, all it takes is the windshield to crack good to see it. Written up in the police report, insurance walks....happened to a friend of mine. Best bet is check laws to see if an optometrist can write you an RX, then do 80pct.

There is no way that your friends own insurance company failed to pay for damages to his vehicle because of front window tint. There is more to the story than that.

Sorry glen, not trying to get into an argument. I respect you on this board. I'm just saying that if your friends OWN insurance company denied his first party collision claim because of front window tint, they did so incorrectly. first party collision coverage pays for stupidity all the time and there is no policy that I have ever seen (I do this all day every day) that would ever deny coverage because of front window tint. Now like I mentioned I can see some chincy third party carrier deny a liability claim if they argued that the window tint caused your friend to not be able to see their insured and that's why the accident happened. But as far as making a claim under your own policy for collision coverage and then saying "no", that's a recipe for a great bad faith lawsuit.

EDIT: Even by Florida standards which is one of the biggest pain in the ass states for insurance that's crazy.

Different states have different insurance regulations aswell i'm sure in florida it would have a tint on windshield law given how many people tint their cars darker then legal down there because of the heat.

I did 70% on the windshield, It's not very noticeable... Thought about doing 50%, Would look good though.
