2016 trunk configuration
Question is the trunk for a 2016 LT different from that of the SS?

are you talking about the physical dimensions or what's inside ?
the LT has the option to come with 18" wheels, so underneath the bottom cover will be an inflator kit but the runflats wont. The SS has a conventional battery, the LT has an AGM battery that is in the rear right of the trunk behind an access panel. The SS (level 1 not 2) doesn't have Bose. The LT may if you got the technology pkg (8" screen). So under the bottom cover you'll have a different setup. physically size-wise, they should be exactly the same. |

Are you referring to the trunk lid? If so, they are interchangeable.

AGM is a different battery chemistry and doesn't like heat, which is why it's in the trunk and not under the hood.
https://www.optimabatteries.com/en-u.../agm-batteries http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/a..._glass_mat_agm Not saying that every "red top" is an AGM battery from optimum, i dont know their lineup, nor would i buy one to replace the stock unit unless the stock unit was damaged (it wont be "better"). They charge at a lower voltage than standard flooded lead acid batteries so if you're thinking about switching, keep in mind that the charging circuit on the car may be specifically made for one or the other. Charging an AGM like a normal car battery will technically be overcharging it, and this will damage the battery over time. |

Yes, it's an AGM battery that has spiral wound plates that make it look like a 6 pack vs. the AGM in the Camaro that has traditional flat plates and only looks like a boring rectangular box. The electrolyte in both is contained (absorbed) in a fiberglass mat that is sandwiched between lead plates or a lead winding in the case of an Optima. They tend to be a bit more rugged than normal liquid electrolyte batteries or non-AGM gel electrolyte batteries.

it appears you are right. Was going by some post made here from an SS owner stating that the SS's used a larger conventional 96 sized battery. Seems they all use size 48 agm.
