is that HUD based only? I have a 1SS, an active satellite radio and no nav and don't recall seeing speed limits in any screens.

XM travel link(?) provides the weather, fuel prices, and movie listings I think. Maybe it does provide speed limit info too. But then any 1LT, 2LT, 1SS, or 2SS should be displaying it. Could it be a glitch were NAV data is present but not "unlocked"?

All the C7 guys say it's coming from NAV. BMW uses a combo of NAV and forward camera to display speed limits. I'm wondering if OnStar isn't the source. Since I've checked XM Travel link and it doesn't say any info remotely like speed limit is provided. OnStar would definitely be keeping tracking the car's location precise enough. XM would only be sending data based on your approximate location(think zip code). Need someone to post proof a 1LT or 1SS can display.

The vette guys are just as confused, I'm a tech editor there , and we can't get a straight answer either.....lol

We will know soon a bit more, I'm gonna cancel on star soon and Xm is set to shut off soon.....

Make sure they don't both go off at the same time. That way we know which was feeding it.

Do all of the trims have the little projector in the dash to display the HUD? I thought it was only the 2SS that had that option...

No only 2LT and 1SS, but I believe the center display should display it too in one of the theme. But that does bring up a good point.

Well I'm more confused now too. I know 100% that as soon as my wife's XM stopped, the traffic conditions and speed limit info on her nav went away on her Infiniti so I assumed it was the same with XM in GM vehicles.

I found this while searching for how Infiniti displays it. Some guys on the Q50 forum mentioned the data definitely gets out of date when there are speed limit changes made after the car is bought. Maybe a coincidence on your wife's?

Interesting. I wonder if it just stops telling me speed limits after a certain time if I don't update the map because it definitely stopped. Thanks.

Only $149 for the updates. That's pretty cheap as far as nav updates go

My car does not have XM Travel Link, what is the requirement to have it? It was on my 2014 2LT without nav.

My car details are below.

Edit:
Nevermind looked on xm website and it says
